Lovers of London – modern bridal chic with images by Amanda Karen Photography
When I scrolled through this gorgeous styled shoot I realised we’d enough stunning images to make two features for you! So here’s part 1 (part 2 coming next week!) This is absolutely glorious, contemporary chic bridal style with sass – I just know you’ll love it. Huge thanks to our lovely English Wedding member Amanda Karen Photography for sharing it with us… and to the whole team for creating something SO beautiful!
The shoot centres around super cool Stoke Newington, and was created by Lou at Lovehairbylou. The venue, now sadly closed, was Stokey’s wonderful Last Crumb Café, and the outfits are by bridal designer extraordinaire Kate Edmondson.

Cherelle from Perfectly Planned 4 u was key to bringing Lou’s concept to life. They enhanced the venue with fresh greenery, styled tables beautifully with elegant ceramics and stunning stationery, and briefed designer Kate Edmondson to create outfits for the bride – edgy/chic and effortless. The team added to these looks with a leather jacket (because obviously our Stoke Newington bride would have a leather jacket!) and completed it with Hackney’s very own, Rachel Jackson’s super cool jewellery.
With Stoke Newington Town Hall just down the road which offers decadent 1930s glamour with its art-deco interiors. Perfect for your ceremony, then we are just few minutes walk down Church Street ready for your celebration! Perfect.
Not forgetting some amazing photo opportunities on the door step with Abney Park Cemetery just over the road (not as morbid as it sounds – it’s totally beautiful, one of the Magnificent Seven cemeteries in London), there’s even a little bit of street art on route for an urban look – look out for the Cheeky Fox, Lollipop, Angel Wings (fabulous wedding shot!!) and even a bit of Bansky.
Cherelle, Perfectly Planned 4 You – Planner
“Being born and bred in Hackney, I am a massive cheerleader for the area and Hackney weddings are my favourite! So when Lou (lovehairbylou) asked me to assist in planning and styling the shoot, I jumped at the chance. Lou’s concept for the shoot, was effortless beauty and I wanted to keep it modern and fresh.
A Stoke Newington bride knows what she wants, doesn’t care too much about trends, but is inspired by images she sees on Instagram. Couples marrying in Stoke Newington want venues with character that they can put their own stamp on and The Last Crumb definitely offered that.
We kept the tablescapes for both looks quiet clean, the Hendrick’s Gin bottles belong to the venue and Catherine of Catherine Short Floral Design used different tones of green to compliment the venue’s turquoise panels. We also used the venues mix match chairs to create a really unique look. For the second look we stripped the greenery back, added elegant gold candlesticks, incorporated blush roses for a pop of colour and added white plates and grey chairs to give the table setup a polished and stylish touch.”

“When Lou and Cherelle came to me with the design and concept of the shoot I was instantly on board. The venue with its East London edge and style meant I embraced the contrast between light and shadows when shooting. Embracing the beauty and romance of the area but without losing its sense of edgy cool.
Embracing the Stoke Newington Bride meant that our models had to channel their sass and attitude, a rebellion to the normal romance of weddings. We wanted to depict a strong and fashion led bride which is typical of East London.”
