A beautiful new era for Shropshire weddings: Stockton House opening April 2022

Published by Claire Gould on

I love to share a positive story, and it’s fabulous to see something wonderful emerging after such a tough year. Many hospitality businesses have had a really tough 12 months, but the team at exciting new Shropshire wedding venue Stockton House have used the time to totally refurbish the Georgian building to create a unique and stylish venue ready for a wedding resurgence.

Stockton House will open for weddings in April 2022. Over the latest lockdown, couples have been arranging video calls and taking private virtual tours around the house and grounds. We’re thrilled to hear that Stockton’s diary is already filling up with wedding bookings for next year!

Stockton House is undergoing an exciting renovation project and will be a sought-after boutique wedding venue for couples marrying from April 2022. The luxury venue sits amongst 8,500 acres of countryside on the Apley Estate near Bridgnorth in Shropshire. Stockton is a grade II* listed building and will host weddings from next year.

The wedding venue has been designed by one of the UK’s leading architects and will be brought back to life with seven luxurious double bedrooms for you and your guests. The stylish Georgian building will also have a secret walled garden dining room for wedding receptions of up to 100 guests – a dreamy space we absolutely can’t wait to see here at English Wedding!

Behind the wedding venue renovation project are award-winning wedding caterers Caviar & Chips, in partnership with the Apley Estate. Co-founders Jonathan Carter-Morris and Marc Hornby began planning with Lord Hamilton of Dalzell and the estate team back in 2018, and have poured all of their efforts into restoring Stockton House while their wedding catering business has been on hold since March 2020.

The concept is truly exciting: a collaboration between ground-breaking wedding caterers and a stunning new Shropshire venue promises to create a wonderful experience for couples. Caviar & Chips’ blank canvas approach to creating exceptional receptions is perfect for modern weddings; having this team behind a brand new venue is going to be an incredible adventure!

We’re confident this new Shropshire wedding venue will be a foodie paradise: with Jonathan and Marc’s commitment to high-level bespoke wedding catering, they’ll be using local suppliers and produce to serve up amazing wedding menus. Ingredients will come from the Apley Farm Shop and farms across the estate, with Stockton House perfectly positioned to showcase Shropshire’s finest local produce in their wedding menus.

Meticulous planning to create something special at Stockton House started way back in 2018 and so with just one year to go, it’s very exciting to see our vison becoming reality! With weddings typically taking anywhere between 12 to 18 months to plan, we’re now receiving bookings for weddings in 2022 and 2023.

Stockton House which will be opening its magnificent doors at what we hope will be the perfect time with so many couples now looking to plan their perfect wedding day.

We’ve already started creating example menus that couples can choose from at Stockton House. Importantly, when it comes to food and drink, each couple will be able to create something unique – there are no set formulas as we know each couple will have their own individual ideas. There are some fantastic ingredients and produce on our doorstep in both food and drink and Stockton House will be a great place to showcase it. I can’t wait to get in the kitchen!
