How did you choose your photographer?
I loved Tracey’s candid and natural style – her photographs look happy and spontaneous! When we met she was very down-to-earth, friendly and enthusiastic which I loved.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Yes! The pictures were fab and on the day Tracey was very organised and unobtrusive.
Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?
James and I got married at Trevenna – we had already reserved the weekend before we saw the venue! We just had such a good feeling from the place. When we visited we just loved it – the modern barns with beautiful scenery, the food, the friendly staff! I’m from Cornwall but now living in Birmingham so it was important to me to get married in Cornwall and Trevenna really showcased Cornwall’s beauty.
Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?
I got my dress from The Bridal House of Cornwall in Truro – it was a Jenny Packham dress but in the sample sale so got it half price (win!). The shopping experience there was brilliant – the house itself was beautiful – the staff were great. When I put the dress on I didn’t so much feel like a bride but a jazz singer in a 1930’s nightclub – which is totally me!
Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness
My mum and I did all the flowers, with some help from my bridesmaids. My favourite flower is a Gerbera and I love red so opted for that in my bouquet, with everyone else with white flowers. Mum’s house was overrun with blooms in buckets the days before!
As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?
Mum and I also made the cake – mum made the bottom tier (fruit cake with marzipan and white chocolate) and I made the top two (with help!) lemon with lemon curd filling, white chocolate ganache and fondant, and a chocolate with milk chocolate ganache and buttercream. Yum!!!
Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves
I’m a jeweller and I was so happy to make our wedding rings, gifts for the bridesmaids (Earrings), the mums (pearl and diamond necklaces). I also made my own earrings!
James is also a great musician and sang/played Dancing in the moonlight by toploader – my favourite song!
Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?
We didn’t personalise our vows – we weren’t sure what we’d say!
What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?
Our first dance song was jame’s fave – dancing in the moonlight by thin lizzy. A little random and kooky but so much fun!
