Hannah & Alex’s relaxed wedding weekend at Great Fosters, with Amanda Karen Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

I know so many of you will be having a wedding weekend this summer – it’s THE biggest trend in weddings this year, and a fabulous way to squeeze in a little more precious time with your nearest and dearest. So I am excited to be (virtually) spending this weekend in the company of gorgeous couple Hannah and Alex, who were married at Great Fosters in Surrey and celebrated over two amazing August days. Their wedding weekend is beautifully captured by our fabulous friends and Essex wedding photographers Amanda Karen Photography.

For the first, Hannah wears the prettiest sunflower dress, as the Saturday of their wedding weekend was for the wedding  rehearsal, then dinner and lawn games! Hannah is American, and rehearsal dinners are tradition over there. We don’t have them here but you can read more about rehearsal dinners here. I love that Alex and Hannah invited Amanda Karen Photography along to both days – they have a wonderful collection of sunflower-filled wedding pics from the Sunday, and more relaxed couple shots from the Saturday celebrations too!

The longer celebration meant that we really could enjoy the moment, got time with everyone who came, and didn’t feel rushed trying to talk to every friend and relative!

My husband used to work with Amanda back when they worked in the corporate world. We had a quick look at her instagram and website and just decided that her and Hutch would be perfect for us.

We were (and still are!) so pleased with our wedding photographer! The photos she took capture our day perfectly. Elegant and intimate posed shots, as well as just lovely candid moments that allow us to relive so many great moments. I don’t really like being in front of a camera, but Amanda made me feel so at ease. Her warmth and professionalism allowed me to enjoy my wedding to the fullest degree!

I will admit I was a bit nervous before we saw our wedding photographs. So many people have told me that they were disappointed in their wedding photos. But my husband and I immediately loved them! We had so much fun looking through all of them over and over again reliving the best weekend of our lives!

I’m sharing the beautiful images from Hannah & Alex’s rehearsal today, and tomorrow we join them for their wedding day! It’s a gorgeous, sunny summery happy wedding and I hope you’ll be back with us on English Wedding tomorrow for more!

Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?

We aren’t really crafty people and we had enough on our plate so we decided not to take on too much. We did lawn games the day before our actual wedding so we got creative making those up (giant jenga, badminton etc). We made signs with for the games and the instructions. We also made signs for out “pimp your gin” station we had during the lawn games for some fun G+Ts!
