Happy Friday folks! Do you have plans for the weekend? We’re off on adventures and I’m desperately hoping my back will hold out… turns out blogging is not the best for posture! I’m all achy and rattling full of ibuprofen this morning, yikes! But still… I can’t keep away from my desk as this gorgeous summer wedding is lightening my heart today. Beautiful bride Heather married Houw at Shustoke Barn on a sunny June day – their wedding is perfect for summer and I LOVE how full of colour the images are.

Jo at www.solihullweddingcreation.co.uk did our flowers, and they were perfect. A beautiful mix of colourful wild flowers. I was so happy with my bouquet and my bridesmaids’. My flower crown was just incredible. The button holes were awesome and the decorations throughout the barn were perfect, not too much and full of colour.

Our venue was a stunning converted barn with a church feel, huge windows and plenty of light. They had candles and fairy lights and indoor plants. We did hire a LOVE sign which gave it a beautiful touch.

We hand made our wedding favours. We decided to have wild flower seeds as wedding favours so bought a cute paper pocket for the seeds and then started dishing out seeds in to the pockets. We loved it. We also used our friend’s hand made sweet cart.

How did you choose your photographer?

Houw knew Elle from school and was keen to have her and Ben to shoot our wedding. We saw Elle and Bens work and loved their natural style.

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

Absolutely!!! They were perfect, so professional and friendly. They fitted in with the wedding party, producing photos so natural and full of love without anyone really noticing. They were brilliant at creating order with the large group photos and the specific photos we had requested.

Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?

It was incredible. Elle and Ben captured all the love and happiness from our big day. It was so amazing reliving all of the joy through our wedding photos. All the photos were so beautiful and natural. They were presented beautifully in a stunning wooden box. We had actual photos and a USB.

Your wedding style or theme:

Rustic, bohemian, hippie, very natural, wild flowers, colourful (no colour theme), laid back. For our table plan we used a map and named tables after countries we’d travelled, on the tables there was a vintage postcard to represent the country. We sat at Fiji as that’s where we got engaged.

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

Internet and recommendations

What’s your top tip for saving money?

Write out what you need, shop around, always check eBay (we had beautiful save the dates and wedding invites for a great price), keep it simple.

… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?

Wedding dress
Flowers
Band

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

eBay. It is a must to check out and shop around on there. We had save the dates, wedding invites and our wedding favours from different suppliers.

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

Yes. I was with my maid of honour trying on dresses and we both started crying when I put it on. It was so simple and I loved it.

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

Minna. A beautiful quirky boutique in London.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!

I wore a beautiful wild flower crown.
Diamond earrings (one of my bridesmaids bought me)
Mandala necklace with a blue stone in the centre (something blue) from Etsy.
Peep toe shoes but I changed to sandals after the ceremony.
A gorgeous veil and belt both from Minna.
A bangle my husband bought me with our wedding date engraved inside (my maid of honour gave it to me the morning of the wedding)
I also wore one of my bridesmaids nans 100year old ring as my something old and borrowed.

And what did the groom wear?

A dark blue tweed suit with a grey tie and brown shoes. He had a wild flower button hole. He looked ace!

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

They looked stunning. They wore quirky green/blue calf length dresses from Asos. It was a layered dress so the top was embroidered and the skirt was very flowy. They either wore gold or silver shoes and had their hair part up part down.

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

Hired a professional that I knew through a friend. Claire did our hair and daisy did our makeup. They were brilliant, I was so happy with the results. Makeup and hair was kept natural which was perfect.

The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?

We went for a Naked cake. It was a delicious Victoria sponge (dairy free) with vanilla butter cream and strawberry jam. 3 tiers and decorated in loads of berries. It tasted amazing!!!!!

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

Our band was the House of Chords. They were brilliant. So entertaining, they had everyone dancing.

Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:

If you love something, go with it, if it’s expensive find other areas to budget. Make a rough plan of what you want and what you intend to spend and work from there.

What’s the best thing about being married?

That despite being married, nothing has changed, which is great….We have an awesome relationship!!
