The very name English Wedding makes people think of stately homes and glamorous celebrations, when it really wasn’t the case when we launched 15 years ago (I was thinking more rebellious Kate Moss and Vivienne Westwood, but there you go)! I’ve been lucky to share hundreds of luxury weddings since then, and I’ll admit a fondness for wedding venues with understated elegance and rolling acres of gardens and hills. If you’re dreaming of saying “I do” in one of England’s castles or luxury country house wedding venues, you’re in good company – lots of modern couples are looking for stylish and timeless wedding venues. Picture this: a grand old manor all to yourselves, historic charm, and a beautiful story to tell.
In the last 15 years of English Wedding I’ve watched – happily – as celebrant-led weddings have grown in popularity. More and more couples choose independent and humanist celebrants over council registrars for their weddings every year. This shift in ceremony styles goes hand in hand with the rise in really personal and unique weddings, and I think it’s wonderful. If you’ve only just started planning your wedding, and you’re not sure which kind of celebrant to choose for your wedding, I’m here to explain the differences in really simple terms to help you decide.
I’m the happiest wedding blogger in the world today! It’s a joy to be sharing this beautiful Somerset wedding with the most amazing bespoke gold dress for stunning bride Rae. Jason’s suit is the loveliest purple shade, and the happy couple look fabulous in every single picture. They chose Dorset wedding photographers and videographers Smiling Tiger Studios to capture their day.
