Hey there beautiful! So today is an ideas day. We’re so full of ideas for a festival wedding I really don’t know where to start. This is a joyful celebration full of everything from English country fete to sustainable wedding style, all at Greenwood Grange in Dorset. There are old fashioned wooden skittles and garden games – not forgetting the old classic ‘hook a flamingo’ (or something!). There’s a cake table which reminds me of our annual village show – and they’re ALL winners! There’s a children’s party field and – from the handprinted signs – a secret midnight rave.

Ro and Matt had an eye on sustainability for their quirky Dorset wedding, which I love. There are vintage style gin and vodka dispensers to fill cute plastic cups – which are yours for the night to reduce waste! – and a recycling station. Our gorgeous bride wears a flower crown dried blooms and seedheads, which is just the loveliest idea. And oh – did I forget to mention the whole reception happens in a little network of yurt pods? It’s fabulous – and we get a bird’s eye view of it all, courtesy of our fabulous friend and sponsor, Dorset wedding photographer Linus Moran Photography.

We had a skype interview with a couple of different photographers but we loved Warren’s style of photography and his relaxed approach.
We had an engagement shoot in Oxford in the autumn and it was great for us to all get to know each other a bit before the big day. It was important to us for the photographer not to feel like a stranger on the day so we could be comfortable and not awkward in front of the camera.

We loved the venue for its natural rustic charm and decided to leave it as simple as possible to speak for itself. Mike’s mum bought all the flowers to be used in the bouquets and tables from a wholesale flower warehouse. She (with the help of bridesmaids and Claire’s mum) assembled all the table arrangements the day before. We also had a florist come and put white flowers around the arch to the big barn doorway where our ceremony took place. And she also did big, bright, colourful arrangements in the big milk urns in front of the barn doors – George Mackay.

Beautiful bride Kirsty and Simon’s wedding is wonderfully summery with beautiful florals in the most idyllic setting. The couple had gone to great lengths to set up their marquee reception at home, and Simon’s mum had been working on their garden for a very long time to ensure it was just perfect and full of blooming flowers and greenery. Their wedding celebrations made for a lovely relaxed afternoon, complete with ice cream and croquet on the front lawn.

“We decorated the marquee with bunting. Our friend had made us a beautiful bar out of used pallets. The tables had hessian and lace runners and log slice centre peices with an assortment of silk flowers in milk bottles and jam jars. As we were having an afternoon tea the tables were laid out with mismatched vintage China which added to the decor. We made all of our own stationery, even cutting out hundreds of small triangles in different floral patterns to make bunting which was the theme of the invites. We had rubber stamps made up of our names and wedding date for the front of the invite and printed the inserts ourselves. We made all of our wedding favours which were small jars of sweets which also doubled as place settings as they had guests’ names on.”

Katherine and Calum’s wedding is such a beautiful one – this lovely couple were married in a cosy candlelit barn, served up comfort food and mulled drinks and used soft whites and styling touches for their winter wedding. The wonderful images are by Devon wedding photographer Lee Maxwell.

“My flowers were an informal posy of soft, blossomy white flowers (with touches of navy from some anemones). The bridesmaids had relaxed bunches of gypsophila. The florist was Earth Gallery Flowers, who were incredibly helpful in providing some initial advice as to what would work best and what was readily available in winter.

My wedding dress was by Catherine Deane, who creates beautiful, floaty, ethereal designs. The boutique where I found it was The Ivory Secret in Crediton – a gorgeous little shop run by the two most helpful ladies; it is like stepping into a dream. I had been to three shops and seen lots of dresses that I liked, but hadn’t had that ‘this is the one’ moment that everyone talks about. I was starting to dismiss it as a myth… until I tried on what eventually became my dress. Strangely, it wasn’t the one that I was most enthusiastic about when I saw it on the hanger, but as soon as I was in it I knew it was absolutely perfect.
