Morning lovely! It’s time for a real wedding… and I promise you this one’s a diamond! We have the most beautiful English bride and gorgeous groom – their happiness is infectious. There are the prettiest details, the most romantic moments and the sweetest glances exchanged… my heart might just melt this morning!

Deborah’s interview at the end of today’s feature is a classic. It’s full of brilliant advice and tips, with lots of helpful stories especially for DIY brides. I laughed out loud at Deborah’s comment that her big box of gypsophila “smelled like feet” – it soooo does! I’ve always wondered if florists know something about gypsophila that the rest of us don’t!

Grab a cuppa, hang on to your mouse and prepare to smile your way through the next ten minutes with a truly wonderful couple. Enjoy. Oh! And when you see who caught the bouquet you will giggle… promise. 😉

Hello beautiful 🙂 If you’ve been following June’s little series of wedding craft projects I have another treat for you today. These gorgeous little boxes with just a dash of DIY will look fabulous on wedding tables: use them as favours if you’re super crafty or have lots of help, or make them up to give little gifts to your best girls on the day… the choice is yours!

Gold leaf gift boxes for your English wedding

What you need:

  • Plain gift boxes
  • Paint
  • Gold leaf sheets
  • Gilding paste
  • Brushes
  • Washi tape
  • Sprigs of flowers

How it’s done:

1. You can either leave the boxes plain or paint them in a colour of your choosing. Paint the lid and leave to dry.

2. Apply gilding paste in a diagonal on one half of the top of your lids. Leave this to dry for 15 minutes.

Elinor – beautiful, stunning bride and super stylish lady! – told me she never wanted her wedding day to end. She married Nick at lovely Hendre Hall a few weeks ago, and I’m so thrilled to be able to share their day with you lovely blog readers today.

Friends and family “ambushed” Elinor’s plans for dressing the venue the day before the wedding… and did the most amazing job turning a blank canvas into a really exciting and pretty space which Elinor and Nick really loved. How sweet is that?!

Their day was relaxed with a touch of rustic charm and a focus on fabulous food with an amazing party atmosphere. I love how Nick and Elinor keep smiling all day long… they make my wedding blog look fantastic! 🙂

I’ll never forget my local independent record store – it’s long gone now but Pink Panther in Carlisle was my favourite place to spend a Saturday afternoon, back in the day. I love people who are passionate about music – so Lisa and Lawrence stole my heart and soul with their amazing music-themed wedding in Derbyshire.

Today’s gorgeous bride and groom met at a gig, and have been to so many concerts together they used their tickets in framed displays to decorate their wedding marquee! Their stationery is creative, fun and inspiring: vinyl, cassettes and CDs all make an appearance.

The bride and groom are gorgeous – Lisa’s smile never stops; Lawrence is proud as punch and looks fab in his Paul Smith suit. But today is all about the party: “good times and killer music” being the most important thing for our lovely couple. Of course the live music on the day was a highlight: Guerrilla Radio even “brought the inner gangster out of 75 year old Uncle Pat!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had the loveliest weekends… and for anyone who’s not in a work mood right now I have a really charming DIY wedding to share with you. Matt and Steph were married at The Ashes in Staffordshire and poured their hearts into creating a pretty day full of little details and DIY touches.

Steph’s Mum was a star, crafting so many of the tiny details of the day. Steph told me, “We went a little mad on the decor and had loads of flowers, vases, candles and ornaments but it all worked out and looked beautiful!”

Hannah and David really are the sweetest couple, and their vintage tea party wedding is wonderful. The little details and handmade touches make this a very special day – by being thrifty today’s bride and groom could afford a reception in a venue they’d had their eye on for eight whole years!

So many brides tell me it’s hard to relax on the day, but Hannah’s lovely approach worked well: “I thought I would stress too much, but I actually stayed calm in the knowledge that we were getting married and it didn’t matter about minor things.” The smiles prove it!

Every wedding is different: the details make a day different and so do the memories… and every bride and groom have something amazing to offer a wedding blogger like me. Today’s stunning bride Kirsty surprised me with this: “At the end of the night when everybody had left we sat on the head table with a bottle of bubbles for an hour just chatting about the day. We could still feel the buzz from the room from the day which was really quite incredible, it was a really special moment for us.

How many of you can imagine doing this after your big day? What a wonderful memory… and for this beautiful bride and gorgeous groom it’s one of so many special moments to treasure.

Morning lovely!! Do you mind if I distract you for a few minutes with rather a lot of wonderfully homemade wedding ideas? Good 🙂 Because Katherine and Ben’s wedding in Cornwall is about to knock your socks off… it’s so creative!

Home made rustic tipi wedding in Cornwall with images by Evolve Photography (25)

Now, wedding blogs are invariably the prettiest thing on the internet… but we’re not all about how weddings look. We like to share great advice and tips, and in today’s English Wedding Blog interview beautiful bride Katherine has some wise advice for other DIY brides and grooms: “A do it yourself wedding may seem cheaper than a hotel wedding, but remember that you will have to provide everything from tables and tablecloths to glasses and all of the drinks. The costs add up, so you have to be willing to shop around for the best deals and to spend the time organising every detail yourself!

That said… this is pretty awesome! Katherine’s Mum made unique invitations for every guest with pressed flowers. The DIY details on the day were fab: Katherine’s table plan, all of the jars and vases, the lanterns, pom poms, bunting and crochet were all home made with love.

I love this advice from beautiful Shani: “You do not need to spend huge amounts of money to have a lovely wedding. Simplicity is often the best route.” This is oh so true – and the proof is in the wonderful images of Shani and Tim’s gorgeous homemade Kent wedding which I’m proud to feature on the English Wedding Blog today.

Homegrown flowers for a rustic wedding blog with White Stag Photography (35)

Everything here is homemade with love and shows just what you can achieve if you really enjoy being crafty and making things – as Shani so clearly does. There’s more though – and green fingered brides should take note: the flowers are divine and all home grown. Shani is a talented florist and what I love most of all is that today’s fabulous couple planted and grew over 300 plants from seed for their wedding day. Wow.

Sometimes a wedding is far too pretty to say no to, and sometimes a wedding is so pretty it takes seconds for me to squeal “yes pleeeeeeeease!” at my inbox! Jade and Lawrence’s big day shot straight into the latter category and I know you’ll love it too.

Real DIY wedding at Hedingham Castle in Essex, images by Sam and Louise Photography (17)

The gorgeous couple were married at Hedingham Castle in Essex and their day was relaxed, pretty and with lots and lots of DIY details. Jade and Lawrence saved money by asking friends and family to help out, and they also chose to ignore the traditions they didn’t like… which, I’m sure you’ll agree, is the way to do it!

Jade is absolutely stunning, rocking a superb dress by Lou Lou Bridal and timelessly glamorous red lipstick – her bouquet is as individual as it is classy: white tulips are all a girl needs when she looks this good. Gorgeous, gorgeous girl!

It’s rather lovely to be exploring Oxfordshire’s finest wedding venues on the blog this week, don’t you think?! On Sunday I shared Kelly and Chris’s gorgeous Henley on Thames wedding; today it’s the turn of Hannah and Mark at the fabulous Ardington House. Wow… (Oh! And while I remember, I’m looking for more weddings from Berkshire, Wiltshire, Northamptonshire and surrounding counties so do get in touch if you’ve one to share!)

Hannah and Mark were married outside, and it won’t take more than an image or two for you to see how amazing the surroundings are… this is one of the loveliest outdoor wedding venues I’ve seen.

There’s no shortage of details to inspire you: Hannah’s time making 60 paper poms really paid off: they look gorgeous in the marquee and add a touch of colour to the styling. Hannah’s other craft projects include the card suitcase, table numbers and menus, and table plan.
