Morning lovely!! Do you mind if I distract you for a few minutes with rather a lot of wonderfully homemade wedding ideas? Good 🙂 Because Katherine and Ben’s wedding in Cornwall is about to knock your socks off… it’s so creative!

Now, wedding blogs are invariably the prettiest thing on the internet… but we’re not all about how weddings look. We like to share great advice and tips, and in today’s English Wedding Blog interview beautiful bride Katherine has some wise advice for other DIY brides and grooms: “A do it yourself wedding may seem cheaper than a hotel wedding, but remember that you will have to provide everything from tables and tablecloths to glasses and all of the drinks. The costs add up, so you have to be willing to shop around for the best deals and to spend the time organising every detail yourself!

That said… this is pretty awesome! Katherine’s Mum made unique invitations for every guest with pressed flowers. The DIY details on the day were fab: Katherine’s table plan, all of the jars and vases, the lanterns, pom poms, bunting and crochet were all home made with love.

I love this advice from beautiful Shani: “You do not need to spend huge amounts of money to have a lovely wedding. Simplicity is often the best route.” This is oh so true – and the proof is in the wonderful images of Shani and Tim’s gorgeous homemade Kent wedding which I’m proud to feature on the English Wedding Blog today.

Everything here is homemade with love and shows just what you can achieve if you really enjoy being crafty and making things – as Shani so clearly does. There’s more though – and green fingered brides should take note: the flowers are divine and all home grown. Shani is a talented florist and what I love most of all is that today’s fabulous couple planted and grew over 300 plants from seed for their wedding day. Wow.

Sometimes a wedding is far too pretty to say no to, and sometimes a wedding is so pretty it takes seconds for me to squeal “yes pleeeeeeeease!” at my inbox! Jade and Lawrence’s big day shot straight into the latter category and I know you’ll love it too.

Real DIY wedding at Hedingham Castle in Essex, images by Sam and Louise Photography (17)

The gorgeous couple were married at Hedingham Castle in Essex and their day was relaxed, pretty and with lots and lots of DIY details. Jade and Lawrence saved money by asking friends and family to help out, and they also chose to ignore the traditions they didn’t like… which, I’m sure you’ll agree, is the way to do it!

Jade is absolutely stunning, rocking a superb dress by Lou Lou Bridal and timelessly glamorous red lipstick – her bouquet is as individual as it is classy: white tulips are all a girl needs when she looks this good. Gorgeous, gorgeous girl!

It’s rather lovely to be exploring Oxfordshire’s finest wedding venues on the blog this week, don’t you think?! On Sunday I shared Kelly and Chris’s gorgeous Henley on Thames wedding; today it’s the turn of Hannah and Mark at the fabulous Ardington House. Wow… (Oh! And while I remember, I’m looking for more weddings from Berkshire, Wiltshire, Northamptonshire and surrounding counties so do get in touch if you’ve one to share!)

Hannah and Mark were married outside, and it won’t take more than an image or two for you to see how amazing the surroundings are… this is one of the loveliest outdoor wedding venues I’ve seen.

There’s no shortage of details to inspire you: Hannah’s time making 60 paper poms really paid off: they look gorgeous in the marquee and add a touch of colour to the styling. Hannah’s other craft projects include the card suitcase, table numbers and menus, and table plan.

Hats off to the wonderfully named, beautiful Kelly Kelly for today’s wedding report, which is awesome, full of advice and ends with one of the best comments ever! Kelly married Chris last summer, and I wanted to show you their wedding which is full of inspiration for summer couples. I think you’ll love it!

Of course there’s plenty of sunshine in today’s blog feature, and while it’s suddenly gone back to winter in the real world (I mean seriously – roll on May!!) we could all do with a dose of warm and shiny, right?

Kelly is just gorgeous: I adore her hair and she’s such a fabulous looking bride, with a smile which has had me grinning back at my screen all morning 🙂 She shares some fab tips and advice in today’s wedding report, which follows all the lovely pics. Don’t miss it!

Before I show you one of the prettiest weddings of the year so far – and you’ll LOVE it!! – a very quick reminder that I have a dozen sponsor slots left from May. If you’re interested read this and get in touch! But more importantly…

Beautiful English church wedding in Dorset with images by Ian H Photography (42)

Very early on her wedding day morning Kerrie went for a walk in the countryside around Studland village. This is such a lovely thing to do: she told me it was very relaxing and a really memorable moment of the whole day. I think it’s really romantic and a wonderful way to think ahead to the day which will follow.

I love how the venue was decorated: it was a labour of love with family pitching in the day before, and only the second time a wedding reception had taken place in the hall… but Kerrie and Nick truly made it their own and styled a pretty, welcoming and relaxed celebration which I’m thrilled to be sharing with you today!

Watch out for festivalesque styling with lanterns and bunting, lovely DIY touches including home made beer(!) and wonderfully warming teepees with the loveliest atmosphere: this is why I love sharing wedding films and I hope you enjoy watching Georgie and Dave’s!

With huge thanks to lovely Steve from Newlywed Films for sharing his heartwarming wedding film with us today.

Morning lovely! It’s real wedding time… and you’re going to love today’s venue idea as much as the gorgeous bride and groom and their brilliant snippets of advice! This is a wedding with simple, rustic and carefully considered details which all work together beautifully. The venue – an unusual but excellent choice: Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, in Worcestershire. It has a miniature train… what more could you need?! The venue is also a charity, which makes it a pretty special place to have your wedding.

Images are by lovely Dave Allen of Just Hitched Wedding Photography. When Dave first got in touch he’d said “These childhood sweethearts really do show what loving someone is all about. Along with their lovely friends and family, who made me feel truly welcomed and part of their fabulous wedding day” – isn’t that wonderful?

You just can’t beat a theatrical venue – and today’s is a showstopper! You’ll love it… Sarah and Nigel were married in Brighton and had their reception at Brighton Music Hall… with three fabulous tipis for dancing the night away!

A real wedding at Brighton Music Hall with Sue Kwiatkowska Photography (9)

Sarah is a genius – she wore a beautiful bridesmaid dress instead of a wedding dress: it’s elegant and graceful and beautifully different. She looks amazing. I would love to see more brides doing the same: there are some incredible evening dresses and bridesmaid dresses out there… and they’d make the loveliest bridal gowns!

I love everything about this wedding – first and foremost the creativity in planning and styling the day. Sarah says “Do what you can yourselves. Flowers, stationery, cakes.  And if you do buy then don’t automatically go for the wedding option as these will be a lot more expensive. We just got normal cakes and dressed them up ourselves and my dress was a bridesmaid dress, so a fraction of the cost of a bridal gown.” Brilliant advice – and there’s more at the end of the blog feature today. Enjoy!

Spring is truly in the air at English Wedding Towers this morning as I have one of the loveliest weddings of the season to share with you… a heartwarming May wedding for a gorgeous bride and groom, starring their adorable 13 month old daughter and flower girl.

A vintage village fete wedding blog in Kent with Foden Photography (22)

Dan and Emily styled a charming village fete wedding in a marquee at Emily’s parents’ house, and combined their day with their daughter’s christening. Despite having a lovely little person in their lives, they found time to incorporate a ton of homemade styling touches into their day to transform a simple marquee into a charming and welcoming wedding venue.

Images are by Surrey wedding photographers Matt and Brenda at Foden Photography. Matt told me, “One of the very best features of the day was the ‘cake competition’. Rather than offering a single cake to their guests, Emily and Dan invited them to bring their own! The vast array of cakes (of varying standards) was a sight to behold, and I have to say this was a wonderful idea that made the wedding day feel even more personal. Of course prizes were awarded for the best cake in show too!

James’s dad found today’s wedding cake stand in a field… and Amy’s mum arranged all of the gorgeous wedding flowers with help from Amy’s sister and maid of honour. Finley the cat modelled for stationery design, while Amy’s brother made the save the dates. Cakes, games, decorations were all home made with lots of help from family and friends… and this is every bit the modern English wedding. You know what? I LOVE it!

Amy’s advice says it all: “If you have friends and family who offer help, accept it! Not only does it save money but it ads such a special personal touch. We were incredibly lucky to have such talented friends and family to help us!” And aren’t they just…
