Chris and Emily styled their Sussex wedding beautifully. They chose a venue which fitted the relaxed wedding style they wanted to have, and the simple and impactful fairy light and lantern decor makes it fun, pretty and welcoming!

Emily is absolutely gorgeous. Despite being a tomboy at heart, she told me, “I really surprised myself by finally choosing a fit and flare dress, it really stood out to me as the delicate ivory lace had a modern feel and it was offset against a light gold satin which gave it a vintage feel. I took it to a seamstress to make some alterations so my dress is one of a kind and I felt like a million dollars on the day.”

Emily saved money by buying a sample wedding dress that was about to be discontinued. “It needed a few minor repairs due to being tried on in the shop but even with these it was half the price of having one custom made.

Today’s fabulously beautiful wedding is going to be a favourite for 2016 – I can see it now. The handcrafted touches are wonderful, and I am SO impressed with gorgeous bride Laura’s lettering and wedding signs! (I’m teaching a calligraphy workshop today and seeing people learn to write like this is one of my favourite things!)

Chris and Laura planned their wedding over 2 years: “Having such a long time to plan the wedding had its pros and cons. We had time to source amazing suppliers and spend hours swooning over gorgeous weddings. However, I did get slightly overwhelmed with the sheer volume of wonderful ideas out there.”

The flowers are another huge highlight of the day:I spent a long time searching the internet for a local florist that created wedding flowers that had a bohemian, unstructured feel to them. Helen from The Flower Mill completely saw my vision for the flowers. They just pulled everything together and were definitely the focal point we were looking for!”

I love a wedding with a story, and with something different and personal to the couple – and for beautiful bride Claire and her gorgeous husband Matt the stories are absolutely incredible – as amazing as the images of their day.

The proposal is a story in itself: Matt was going to propose at the top of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania but Claire broke her foot and couldn’t go on holiday, so the best man went instead. “John videoed Matt proposing to me at the top. He later showed me the proposal and asked for my answer at the top of Toubkal in the Atlas Mountains – 5 months later – they both kept the secret well!

Their Cornwall wedding is absolutely beautiful: the hilltop theme continues with some of the most spectacular shots you can imagine – taken by lovely reportage photographer Alexa Poppe. Claire and Matt share some great advice with us in their interview below: to save money they say “Do as much as you can yourself. All of our church and table flowers were from the hedgerows or the garden and luckily we have some very talented flower arrangers as friends!

Ah… music to my ears: Natalie mentions in her interview today that “Ebay isn’t always the best place to grab a bargain“! She’s spot on – and I love her for this as well as for sharing her wedding to Scott with us all today, because it’s amaaaazing…

An English wedding in Merseyside by Kanashay Photography (16)

Natalie is one of the craftiest brides I’ve known – her handiwork is wonderful. There are so many makes in today’s real wedding you’re going to be Pinning for hours, my lovely blog readers! “We made so much for the wedding from signs, to centre pieces, sweetie buffet to popcorn and honey favours. The list is endless and thanks to pinterest the making continued right up to the day before the wedding!

Natalie used recycled materials and was careful with her crafting budget… and it all looks incredible. So grab a cuppa and snuggle up with your tablet for this one… it’s such a beauty of a wedding and will go down as one of this year’s favourites for me!

It’s about time for a beautiful real English wedding, don’t you think? Today’s is one of the loveliest weddings of the summer and comes from a brand new London venue (for me, at least!) Hackney Brewery. Now… being a northern girl I do love a craft beer or two – and so this is a bit of a dream wedding for me! Today’s gorgeous bride Ananda described her summer wedding to Darren as a “beautiful & raucous DIY brewery knees up” which sounds as perfect as it looked!

Ananda told me, “We spent a lot of time making decorations and all the details of how we had decorated the venue were really personal… Claire [photographer Claire Gill] captured these beautifully, giving us not only a memory of the day but also the all the memories of the days we spent with our loved ones helping us create the perfect day.”

Morning lovely blog readers! I have a special wedding for you today… a celebration which is 100% family orientated, from the beautiful Lake District, and photographed by a photographer I know very well indeed and can highly recommend: Simon Hudspeth from Durham. Simon is my brother in law, and it’s a rare treat to be able to share one of his weddings with you!

Real wedding in the Lake District by Simon Hudspeth Photography (23)

Today’s bride and groom are gorgeous Ann and Nic. They married at Patterdale Hall in a uniquely personal and perfect wedding day. Ann had her own best man instead of bridesmaids; there was a lot of lego in their theme; kids were a huge part of the ceremony and celebrations, and the paper bouquet made from comic books is as funky as it is fabulous!

Ann told me, “I think the best thing we did on the day was go off and have some photos taken while everyone was having the BBQ, we got a bit of time to ourselves, to have a chat and chill. We talked nonsense while Simon took some stunning pictures, and it didn’t feel quite so overwhelming for the rest of the day and no one even noticed we were missing!

Today’s gorgeous bride Rebecca told me she LOVED having the opportunity for photos with her ponies… so let’s begin with one of those, shall we? This is the perfect introduction to a gorgeous Lake District wedding with a real countryside atmosphere and pretty homemade styling.

Luke and Rebecca are today’s fabulous couple, who married in May at Lowick Green. Many of their suppliers are local; ideas came from Rebecca’s love of Pinterest and so many of the details were a labour of love with special help from both mums!

I asked Rebecca what she feels is the best thing about being married, and she told me “Just being together, it’s such a lovely comfortable, blissful feeling“. How beautiful is that?

I do love hearing stories from all of my brides and grooms whose special days feature on the English Wedding Blog. You’re all so amazing it’s unreal! The tips and advice you share have taught me pretty much all I know about wedding planning… and I know so many other couples are inspired by your words and images every single day.

Today it’s Charlotte and Chris whose beautiful wedding will be published on the pages of the English Wedding Blog. They’re a stunning couple whose words and images about their wedding will stay with me for a long time. I found it hard to select images because so many were just gorgeous. (Happy news: there are loads for you to scroll through! Yay!)

The same goes for tips and advice from the happy couple, but I do love this brilliant advice: “make sure you plan a special exit because otherwise it tails off and you just walk out which isn’t very special. We went for the classic running through the sparklers – it was lovely and everyone got to have fun playing with sparklers as we drove off.”

I’m not a weepy blogger… but it’s totally true that Laura and Rob’s interview for the English Wedding Blog brought a tear to my eye. They’re the most amazing couple: their images are as wonderful as the day they planned around the passions of their family and friends.

There are also, of course, the details we all love: country garden flowers, handcrafted details, wedding signs, miles of bunting and the prettiest dress and accessories you can imagine. All are captured in the romantic and whimsical style of lovely Rebecca from Wild Rose Photography.

Laura told me the best thing about being married is “the feeling of being part of an incredible team and that you can take on the world together.” Need I say more?

I’m all for bicycles on a wedding cake, signature skateboards (only write on the wood, folks!) and wellies tied to pew ends. Today’s is a wedding with a super cute sense of humour and a gorgeous – I mean stunning! – bride and groom.

Jen and Rob were married in Torquay in spring (hence the wellies – they expected rain!) and held their reception at the fabulous Torre Abbey. I adore Jen’s bridal look: her lace dress was bought at a wedding show and is from Silk Brides in Lichfield. Rob and Jen found suppliers online, through recommendations and had help with lots of DIY projects from friends and family.

The lovely flowers are by a family friend and stationery was designed by Rob. Signage on the day was made by a friend too – Jen’s told us all about the DIY elements of their day in her English Wedding Blog interview at the end of the feature today.

If you know a whole bunch of talented people, you’re one of the lucky ones. Georgia and Ross will tell you – being able to ask friends and family to make things for your wedding day, and knowing they’ll be amazing, is just the best thing ever.

Warwickshire wedding photography by Coates & Stain (2)

Today’s real wedding comes from the Warwickshire countryside where Georgia grew up. The marquee is pitched in a field of the family farm; pretty much every detail is the work of a talented friend or family member. And it’s all gorgeous.

I adore the flowers; they’re real English country garden blooms and must have smelled as delicious as they look. The table plan is prettily homemade and the bunting and paper lanterns add a romantic atmosphere to the reception marquee.
