Canals have a romance all of their very own, don’t you think? If you’ve ever strolled along a canal before sunset you’ll know how wonderfully tranquil those towpaths can be. The adventure of drifting through England’s hidden waterways is one I dream of experiencing, one day. So Heather and Michael’s day has my heart: their photos by the locks are beautiful; their tipi reception is full of character and quaint old English charm – it’s perfect.

Village hall wedding styling ideas from Northumberland with Andy Hudson Photography (5)

If you’ve ever lived in a little English village, you’ll get how perfectly these images capture the spirit of such a place. I’m a village girl – I grew up in a tiny Cumbrian village, moved away, moved back to another Cumbrian village and put roots down here – I just love village life! So Clare and Phil’s day leapt out from all of the submissions in my inbox for today’s real wedding feature. My fave pic is the one with the whole bridal party sat by the wall… it reminds me of the lyrics to Pulp’s Disco 2000…

I love all the thought and time Jess put into styling her wedding to Antony! The detail of her dress and hairpiece are so pretty; I adore the bunting too. Everything about this day sings of summer, and I know you’ll love it as much as I do! Have a glorious day, everyone!

Thistles and kilts for a Scottish themed wedding in Penrith, with Jessica Lang Photography (12)

Today’s wedding is wonderful. A glorious mix of Lakeland and Scottish styling touches, with home grown flowers (all of them – isn’t that amazing?!), DIY details and the most beautiful bride and gorgeous groom. The venue is lovely Askham Hall, which looks fabulous and has the most incredible gardens for outdoor shots. I think my fave thing about Cally and Colin’s wedding is all the help they had from friends and family to bring their day together, and all the personal touches – an heirloom kilt; hand painted table names; oh! and a genius idea of a song from the best men which Cally explains in her interview below. You’ll love this…

Rachel & Gavin’s ceremony was under a gorgeous floral arch before celebrating the rest of their evening in a romantic barn lit by fairy lights. I adore all the handmade touches and I recommend you grab a cuppa before scrolling through the stunning images of their day – there are sooo many ideas here, you’ll love them!!
