This is adorable. A family wedding for the cutest trio, an alternative celebration planned with one week’s notice, and the loveliest, most joyful images you can imagine. Congratulations Luke & Amy – we LOVE your wedding day! Let us know when you finally get to have that first dance…

How did you choose your photographer?

We chose Hannah from a recommendation from a friend. After having our wedding postponed twice due to Covid, lockdown lifted and we had a week to finalise all the details! Thankfully at very short notice Hannah fitted us into her bookings.

Timeless wedding inspiration inspired by my favourite parts of the world: the wild beach of Askam-in-Furness, and the remote fellsides of Great Langdale. We’re thrilled to learn that outdoor weddings can now take place in England – but we do encourage all of you to look into independent celebrants so you can have your wedding ceremony wherever you’d like, not just on licensed premises! Here’s a glimpse of how incredible your anywhere-wedding could be.

2020 is going to change weddings. Couples have been shaken in a rollercoaster of announcements, postponements and limitations since the first lockdown last March. For some of us, the change has affected our whole lives: we’ve lost loved ones to a pandemic which could have been prevented, had our government and others worldwide acted quickly. Others have lost jobs, finances, homes, relationships and more – the effects on daily life of 2020 have been unbelievable.

Believe it or not, 2020 didn’t invent micro weddings. We’ve actually been in love with these wonderful, smaller weddings for a few years already! I worry a little that the name “micro wedding” will become synonymous with the word “pandemic”. I’d love to come up with a word for these incredibly joyful, intimate weddings that captures their magic, because they’re bursting so full of heart and soul they deserve to be celebrated and dreamed of as much as any big ‘dream wedding’ ever is.

Huge thanks today to lovely Kay from PKay Bridal, who sent us this stunning styled wedding shoot from beautiful Cumbria. The images are fabulous, the table styling out of this world – and I’m in LOVE with Harpreet’s beautifully embroidered wedding outfit. It’s all from a styled photography workshop run by My Pretties UK – as I type, they’ve 3 workshops in the pipelines which still have availability and I’d highly recommend them!

Kay has shared her gorgeous photos from this warm and romantic shoot with a rich colour palette that is perfect for any season. Hidden River Barn is a simply breath-taking venue literally hidden away in the Carlisle countryside. Surrounded by woodlands and it’s own private river… who wouldn’t want to get married here?
