Lauren & Simon’s beautiful Morden Hall wedding, with Damien Vickers Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

This stunning wedding, combining British and American styling and ideas, is a beauty! We’re smitten with Morden Hall, swooning over the florals and enchanted with the fabulous photos by Cambridge wedding photographer Damien Vickers.

Lauren is incredible in her Lillian West dress, and Simon so handsome in a velvet suit from Reiss. The happy couple have written reviews for their favourite wedding suppliers below – we hope you love their wedding as much as we do!

Wedding photographer review

Damien was incredible. He is not only professional, reliable and enjoyable to be around, he is an absolute master of his craft. He did a fanstastic job of “blending in to the background” but also capturing the most beautiful moments and memories from our wedding. The photos are stunning, and he made my husband (who hates being in front of the camera) super comfortable and captured some of the best photos I’ve ever seen of him!

Your best moment or memory

Being announced husband and wife after the ceremony and all of our guests cheering and throwing confetti in celebration. We also loved the dance floor!

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

I am American and my husband is British so we did our best to try to combine customs and cultures. Our wedding favor was a beer koozie which is quite common in America, but unusual for our British guests. It was such a hit, we had people texting us the next day asking if we had any extras.

Venue name + review

Morden Hall Country House We loved our venue! It was stunning and had personal meaning to us as we frequented the park nearby throughout Covid lockdown. The staff at the venue are incredible and so helpful. We had everything we needed and the day ran so smoothly. My personal favorite part is the huge and beautiful bridal suite onsite. It was so nice to have plenty of space to get ready just steps away from the ceremony space – it made the process so relaxing and not feel rushed at all.

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

The bride wore a Lillian West a-line romantic dress with a long lace train and medium sized veil and the groom wore a navy velvet suit jacket and bowtie from Reiss.

Florist name + review

Nicola Eve – Flowers by Eve Nicola was my absolute favorite supplier to partner with throughout this process. She is a recommended supplier from the venue, so works with them often and knows exactly where everything is and can make great recommendations on what would look nice. My husband and I know next to nothing when it comes to florals, so we really relied on her to help us make choices that we would love (and stay within budget) and she was so helpful. She really respected our budget and never pushed us to go beyond it. She is also really easy to get in touch with and highly communicative throughout the process.

Cake maker name + review

We did doughnuts from Crosstown Doughnuts. We had a variety of flavors and they even arranged them to look like a cake! Neither me nor my husband particularly like cake, so we decided to do something a little different.

All of our design was done by Boelle Events. We were super happy with how everything looked in the end – and Cathy (owner and lead designer at Boelle) did a fantastic and thorough job helping us think through all the details.

Wedding planner name + review

We didn’t have a planner, but our venue provided a day-of coordinator who was very helpful, her name is Rafaela. We also worked with a designer from Boelle Events, called Cathy, and we loved working with her.

Hair + makeup name + review

Lauren Irwin – Lauren Wedding Hair & Make-up Lauren was AMAZING! I’ve never felt so beautiful. I told her I wanted to look like myself – just with a nice healthy glow and she did exactly that. It was very natural looking but still looked beautiful in photos. She also did a fanstastic job on my mom, mother-in-law, flower girl and matron of honor. We were all very happy and the experience was one of my favorite parts of the day!
