We don’t often have ‘Owls’ in a list of suppliers for a photoshoot. Then again, we don’t often have owls swooping down towards the bride and groom, or perched on a beautifully styled wedding table. So this, my lovelies, is something a little different! Stunning styling, a gorgeous couple and fabulously curated details to show you how to create a wonderful floral wedding look with palest blues and whites and lush foliage… oh, and y’know… owls. Enjoy!

Keeping it classic was the perfect styling for our wedding photoshoot at the stunning outdoor wedding venue, Edmondsham House. Set in beautifully maintained grounds with a stunning walled flower garden, this stately home seems to be Dorset’s little secret!
As an ‘On the Day’ wedding co-ordinator I am always on the lookout for wedding venues that offer DIY weddings, so I was delighted when the owner, Julia Smith said ‘Yes’ to me organising a styled shoot here. An instant feeling of tradition washed over me when I saw the pure grandeur of this Tudor Manor House which, as you can imagine, made it particularly easy for us to choose our theme and styling.
Bringing back the black tux felt perfectly fitting for our groom model Jack, especially next to his real partner and our bride model Katy in her exquisite Martina Liana dress from Minster Bridal Design.
We matched the dress with delicate and sophisticated jewellery from Allum & Sidaway to give that added air of elegance. After all diamonds are a girl’s best friend!
Our models waist length hair was twisted into a classic bridal updo by Bournemouth Bridal Hair & Make-Up. This low twisted bun showcased the back of Katy’s stunning bridal gown and kept her cool on one of the hottest days of the year!
Katy’s make-up was designed to reflect the modern classic bride. Charlee Hulbert Makeup Artist went for a glowing natural skin with delicate contouring and blush adding a pop of colour to Katy’s cheeks. On Katy’s eyes a warm neutral palette emphasised the deep browns of her eyes and an effortless yet sharp winged liner with two lashings of mascara to complete the eye look.
Arriving in style to this grand stately home was of upmost importance, so what better way than in a classic cream convertible Morris Minor owned by Morris Minor Hire…a car we all know and love!
Soft and neutral colours set the tone beautifully with a magnificent deconstructed flower arch arranged by Dorset Flowers. The arch was swathed in delphiniums, garden roses, ivy, eucalyptus and curly willow. There really is nothing not to love about this venue, knowing that if you want to, you can legally get married in the quaint little church within its grounds.
To keep with the colour scheme, a delicately styled table with soft draping, matching florals and table stationery styled by Laurel Designs sat elegantly under the magnificent old cedar tree on the edge of the marquee lawn.
A classic 3 tier white wedding cake textured with pretty edible lace and shimmery gold leaf, pale pink and white handmade country garden sugar roses, grey leaves and soft bunny tails was crafted by Helen Jane Cake Design. To the side Helen added two sweet matching mini cakes and some pretty little biscuits…the perfect interpretation of English country elegance.
As tradition and elegance was key to this shoot inviting Florence and her team from Fab Falconry felt just right and certainly gave this styled photoshoot the WOW factor. With the impressively majestic stance from the European Eagle Owl, the mesmerising stare from the Little Owls, the chilled out Tawny Owl and witnessing the effortless flight from the ringbearing barn owls was spectacular to watch and quite therapeutic.
Knowing that one of the owls would be in flight for the ringbearing it was important to capture them in motion, so having Pointhouse Studios to film our shoot was the perfect solution. Being able to watch back how the whole day unfolds is a lovely keepsake and one I would definitely recommend for couples to consider when planning their wedding.
Capturing this amazing gallery of images was Jack Aldridge Photography who with his documentary and natural photography style told our visual story in the most perfect way. I am sure you will agree the images speak for themselves and certainly tell the most beautifully elegant story.
Combining all of these refined and classic elements to our shoot proves that tradition is definitely NOT old hat and YOUR wedding can still be styled to look as chic and sophisticated as you want it to be!
