Christmas gift ideas for brides to be

So. Lockdown. Here we go… and I’d like to send out a massive hug to all of you. I know this is hard. I know it’s not just about weddings – it’s about loneliness, and fear, and financial crises, and missing people so much it hurts. I know.
I’m staying home. I will do whatever I can to keep our grandparents, parents, neighbours and healthcare workers alive this winter. I only wish we had a government that was more in touch with the rest of us, that would understand the support we all need, and find a means to provide it.
I can only speak for the world I know: a world of little independent businesses and brands, people making beautiful things in their homes and selling them online to feed their kids and keep a roof over their heads. And today I’d like to share just a handful of ideas for Christmas.
I’m sharing some gift ideas of my own here too. I’m one of those little indie businesses working from a tiny home studio, and my earnings have plummeted this year leaving Christmas gifts something I hugely depend on to see me through the winter.
If you have pennies to spare this Christmas for gifting, then I implore you: support the little guys. Amazon doesn’t need your help – now isn’t the time to be giving money to big corporates. Here are some alternative Christmas gift ideas I hope you will love. Some I’ve bought, some I’ve made, some just on my future wish lists!
L – R: Pocket Hug tiny token card, £7, Kutuu // Personalised calligraphy set, £65, By Moon & Tide on Not On The High Street // handmade shea butter soap gift box, £10, by The Scrub Shop UK on Etsy
L – R: Handpainted baubles, from £20, Amy Swann // personalised family tree, from £55, By Moon & Tide // Love gift set, £30, by White January
L – R: Letterbox calligraphy gift set, £49, By Moon & Tide on Etsy // Sit Back & Relax Box, £60, Four Sisters // Personalised You Are So Loved print, from £19, Izzy & Pop
There are tons of ways to avoid the likes of Amazon this year – by shopping online with local stores and crafts people. Use Not on the High Street and Etsy for unique gifts. For books, I love worldofbooks.com (they’re second hand, but their ethics are first class). For smellies Lush is unbeatable for their investment in and promotion of worthy causes. And if you’re on instagram follow your local ‘madein’ hashtag – e.g. #madeincumbria
With love,
