How did you choose your photographer?

We met Robin at a wedding show in Bournemouth and we immediately loved his style. The quality of the finished products he had on display was so high that we didn’t need to look any further and booked him as soon as we could!

100%. Robin was fantastic from start to finish. Excellent communication, a fun pre wedding/engagement shoot to help us get used to how he worked, and on the day of our wedding we barely noticed him being there – he blended into the background and captured some incredible moments, nothing too staged and all very natural – we absolutely love our finished album

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?

The Tythe Barn at Priston Mill, near Bath. We had a very clear idea of the sort of venue we wanted, and this venue was exactly what we were looking for. It’s about an hour and a half away from where we live, but we love Bath, and actually having a wedding away from where you live is a great opportunity to turn it into a weekend long celebration. We had around 100 people come away and stay with us for 2 nights and having everyone staying together at the same place added to the experience of the whole weekend.

Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?

Yes. We both loved our outfits. The dress was absolutely stunning and Leanne looked like a movie star. She got it from Anna Bridal in Ringwood. Mickey’s suit was a made to measure, classic 3 piece blue suit made by Fox Tailoring. The experience of having a suit custom made was really cool and one he really enjoyed.

Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness

Yes. We used The Wilde Bunch florists. Claire was great to deal with and created the classic, understated look we were after with simple whites, greenery and blush pinks. Stunning. They also offer free use of a whole warehouse full of props – a real treasure chest of vases, candles, lanterns, card boxes, signs, crates, ladders etc – all for no additional charge!

Did you hire a wedding planner?

We did. It was Mickey!

As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?

The cake was absolutely ridiculous! So tasty and a total masterpiece! It was made by Emma at Bake My Cake near Bristol. It was a 4 tier cake in white and dusky pink, and the flavours were raspberry and white chocolate, chocolate orange, lemon & passion fruit and cherry bakewell. Incredible!

Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves

We made our own table numbers – just from simple wooden numbers which we then spray painted with silver and glitter spray paint. We also made our own table plan. We made “cake-away” boxes for people to take some cake back with them. We also brought along garden games which kept people entertained all afternoon.

Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?

No. We kept the service short and simple – no readings or personal vows. We just wanted to be married as quickly as possible and then get to enjoy the day with our guests.

What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?

When It’s Time by Green Day. Mickey has been a massive Green Day fan for 20 years and always said he wanted to have this as the first dance, so Leanne gave in!
