Kim & Graham’s gorgeous Wellington Barns wedding, with Linus Moran Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

A special treat for you this weekend to brighten up your Sunday! I just love the naturalness of gorgeous couple Kim & Graham’s photos as they walk through wildflower meadows on the evening of their wedding. We’ll have times like these again soon, lovelies! Hang in there… it’ll all be worth it for moments like these.

Kim & Graham tied the knot last August, at Wellington Barn in Wiltshire. They chose our lovely friend and Wiltshire wedding photographer Linus Moran to capture their day in his unmistakeable documentary style, and described their horses + motorbikes-themed wedding as a beautiful, happy, perfect, love, family, mad, epic, best, day, ever! The images tell their story perfectly…

With love,

How did you choose your photographer?

We were looking for a documentary style photographer who would capture natural photographs as things unfolded throughout the day, as neither the bride or groom enjoy posing for the camera! We came across Linus’ website on a web search and really loved all the beautiful photographs he had included in his portfolio. The images really stood out to any other work we’d seen, he seemed to have an eye for capturing very intimate and beautifully natural interactions and connections between people.

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

We can’t recommend Linus highly enough! From the get go he was very clear and confident about what sort of service he could offer, and was just so easy to get along with. He was always very quick to respond to any questions we had, although we didn’t have much to worry about as he is quite clearly a very experienced professional, well versed in how weddings tend to run. He knew exactly where to be, when, to capture the best parts of the day. He somehow manages to capture the whole atmosphere and feeling of the day and tell the story of the entire event through his images, which I think is a very hard thing to replicate. He was a very calming presence on the day and never intrusive. In fact, most of the time, we didn’t realise he was even taking our photograph at all which is exactly what we had hoped for! He also went above and beyond when shooting our wedding. We had only asked him to remain up until our first dance of the evening but the evening party really ramped up when our band started playing. He stayed well past 10.30pm to make sure he captured all the madness! He quite clearly is very passionate about his work and that is something you cannot really buy. We will always recommend him to anyone that asks.

Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?

It was actually very emotional! We were so overwhelmed with how many beautiful moments he had captured. Many that we just hadn’t had time to absorb ourselves on the day as it was such a blur! It was basically like reliving the whole day all over again and we will certainly treasure them for the rest of our lives. Photos are really the only thing you have left afterwards so finding someone who can document it so perfectly is paramount in our opinion.

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

Mainly through word of mouth and a few internet searches

What’s your top tip for saving money?

Set a budget and stick to it! Don’t get bogged down in all the extras/add-ons. Decide on what is really important to you and only invite people you really truly want there. Make your own decorations! Keep it simple.

… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?

Photographer and band

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

We made all our own decorations. Many of our friends and family offered to make signs/ dry petals for confetti, print table names and pictures. Its all part of the fun and build up, getting everyone involved!

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

Yes totally. It was the first thing we bought after getting engaged! We hadn’t even booked the venue or date at the time! It was a completely chance occurrence – a dress in the January sale of a small bridal boutique on our local highstreet that we’d popped into just for fun on a quiet morning. Totally meant to be!

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!

I wore a matching necklace and earring set recommended by the bridal shop owner. She has a very good eye for choosing jewellery to compliment the dress! My boots were white cowboy boots (very comfy!) given to me by a close friend that she had worn on her wedding day. I am a professional horse trainer so it seemed like a fitting choice!

And what did the groom wear?

A blue country style suit with copper buttons and a very faint hint of tweed running through it, with a burgundy tie. Bought from Blushing Brides, Witham, Essex.

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

Sexyher dresses in blush pink. A great shop where you can choose any style dress but have them all made in the same colour. My bridesmaids were all very different shapes and sizes so they all picked a style that suited themselves as individuals, but they were all in the same colour.

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

Yes. Charlotte Tillyer (www.charlottetillyer.co.uk) for bridal hair and makeup.
Lindsey Ashby for bridesmaids hair and makeup.

Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)

Absolutely gorgeous. I wanted a kind of country style effect, with a fairly messy bouquet of wild/meadowflowers and grasses, with some blush roses and burgundy astrantia to pick out the bridesmaid and groomsmen colours. Louise at Wendy House Flowers did an absolutely superb job!

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

No, part of the draw of Wellington Barn is its stunning location! The view from the dining room makes for an amazing backdrop to any wedding. The barn itself is very beautiful and we really didn’t need to add much to it other than a few homemade decorations to personalise it.

Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?

We made all our own decorations. I would highly recommend this to people who are looking to save money and have some talented willing friends/family members. Half the fun was seeing all the effort people had gone to with various decorations they had asked to be assigned to. It was very touching and made our day even better than we could have imagined!

The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?

We opted for a cheese tower, courtesy of a local market man in Devizes. We love cheese and port so it was a no brainer!

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

Our band was AWESOME! We chose a Queen tribute band as our family are huge fans. It was just the best decision we ever made. We originally weren’t going to have a band but after stumbling across these guys online, we just knew they had to be a part of our wedding. It was definitely a night to remember! Mark was a total legendary performer. The best Freddie Mercury we have seen anywhere! They really made the night. Our guests still talk about them today!

Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:

Do NOT try and people please. This is your day. Do NOT let others dictate to you what you should and shouldn’t do. Weddings can really be quite stressful to organise so delegate where you can and just stick to what you know you want. You will not please everyone. Be ruthless with your guest list!

What’s the best thing about being married?

Living with my best friend 🙂
