Hannah & Mark’s elegant rustic Oxon Hoath wedding, with Natalie D Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

Hey lovelies, happy Monday! I hope you’re ok and have had a relaxing weekend. Shall we jump straight into weddings this week? I’m loving the escapism of seeing happy faces and human contact, even if it is on my screen! Today’s gorgeous couple were married last summer in the Kent countryside – their day is simple and elegant, incorporating Italian and English elements. The blue accents are just wonderful, and I love how the delicate blues match those glorious, sunny skies!

With love,

How did you choose your photographer?

We were lucky to meet Natalie at a January wedding fair soon after we got engaged. We really liked her soft romantic photography style and her relaxed attitude!

From the moment Natalie arrived on our wedding morning she joined the wedding party effortlessly with her warm and chatty character. Then throughout the day she snapped away in the background capturing natural photos of our guests enjoying themselves. We weren’t really looking forward to the photo shoot but again Natalie made us feel at ease and we ended up really enjoying ourselves. We were really pleased with how our photos turned out and they captured memories from our special day perfectly!

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?

We chose Oxon Hoath due to the amazing view over fields and trees from the ballroom upstairs. We also loved that fact that our guests could stay there making it a weekend to remember. The staff were so helpful and encouraged us to put our own stamp on their gorgeous venue!

Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?

The shopping experience was so much fun and I loved going with my bridesmaids and mum to a few local wedding dress shops. My dress had quite a bit of alteration but it all came together in the end! The lace around the hem was my favourite feature.
Mark looked amazing and his suit fitted perfectly on the day!

Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness

Visiting Emma (Beaus and Blooms) was one of my favourite parts to planning our wedding we met three or four times before the wedding to discuss all our ideas and she even made me a trial bouquet so I could check the size and style!

As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?

Charlotte Raymond (www.charlotteraymond.co.uk) made us the most delicious cake! We had carrot cake, spiced apple and raspberry and pistachio covered in the most incredible meringue butter cream! We wanted our cake to be an event of the day and cut it earlier than most to serve with cocktails on the lawn!

Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves

We cut herbs from our own garden to dress the table place settings. We trawled charity shops to find about 40 different cut glass candle sticks to create our table centrepieces.

Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?

We had The lovely Love Story by Edward Monkton.
We had a traditional church wedding service at where Hannah was Christened.

What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?

We saw Ed Sheeran together at Glastonbury and Thinking Out Loud was a favourite song when we first started dating in 2014.
