Good morning lovely! An early post today because I’m off teaching a Christmas calligraphy class in the Lake District (so excited I can’t tell you! We’re doing wrapping paper and baubles!) And so today’s creative wedding photoshoot was just perfect to share with you right now. It’s just so beautiful! The flowers are incredible and I adore Julie Michaelsen’s photography. (I was lucky enough to have Julie send me some photographs of my calligraphy back in 2017 and have been in love with her work ever since!) The look is beautifully styled by Lamp Productions with stunning calligraphy by Judy Broad and the most excitingly creative cake from Nevie-Pie Cakes – see the full supplier list at the end of the feature!
“Set in the heart of the Surrey countryside in England, Millbridge Court is a contemporary, exclusive use wedding and events venue. We decided to choose Millbridge Court for our shoot as we knew we wanted to shoot at a countryside venue. Luckily, Millbridge Court is within easy reach of London and it has a relaxed, refined luxury feel to it. Not only is it such a unique venue with a naturally rural yet contemporary and elegant feel, but it has a stunning interior and is flooded with light all year round.
Our goal was to create a focal point that would be a piece of bespoke artwork that a couple could take away with them after their wedding to hang in their home – both as a beautiful reminder of their day and also to inspire brides to choose decoration that can be reused or repurposed after the big day.
During the planning stages of the shoot, we knew that we wanted to combine classic bridal styling with contemporary elements, which would reflect the style of the venue. To do this, we used dark furniture contrasted with pretty pink linens and pastel tableware, along with textures of raw wood, stone and velvets to create depth and a look that was both modern and romantic in equal measure. One of the partners for the shoot, Blooming Haus also helped to create a look that was classically bridal for the modern couple by using a combination of foraged foliage with anthuriums and roses in full bloom, arranged as a full ombre table runner.
Our favourite detail of the shoot has to be the ceremony backdrop by Cutture. This was two metres of lovingly laser cut paper, featuring a beautiful flower inspired design and a central monogram.
