Chloe & Matt’s fabulously floral summer wedding at Greyfriars, with Musk Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

Hey beautiful! Happy Monday! Is it beautiful sunshine where you are today? It’s a glorious day up here in the Lakes and I’m LOVING the frosty autumn leaves on the ground right now. But to take us all back to summertime, I have a truly beautiful August wedding to share with you today – it’s gorgeous couple Chloe & Matt, who married at Greyfriars House and chose lovely Tash at Musk Photography to capture their day.

Chloe looks stunning in a beautiful Stella York gown, which she bought from Tilly Mint Weddings in Hampshire. Matt’s suit is the perfect complement, and I just love his bowtie, which absolutely makes his look! And look at that wonderful bouquet! Talented bride Chloe did all of the flowers herself, with help from her mother and sister in law. The colour scheme was burgundy and mustard, with lots of creamy white and greens. It worked beautifully with the venue! Chloe loves flowers and told me she’s looking to get into event floristry in the near future… so watch this space!

Greyfriars is so beautiful it needed little more than floral styling to make it perfect for Chloe and Matt’s day.

We were recommended Tash through a very close family friend.

We were so pleased we went with Tash – she was so easy to get on with and we new from the initial meeting she was going to be perfect for our day. In the best way we barely noticed she was there, she fitted in so well with our family and friends.

When we received the email that our photos were ready we were so excited. Looking through them brought back so many special moments from the day and also gave us the chance to see moments we weren’t able to see ourselves being the busy bride & groom.

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?

Everything we could have imagined and more

Your wedding style or theme:

We didn’t really have a theme but everyone commented on how relaxed the day was

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

Recommendations mainly, Sally our caterer who was amazing especially with our long list of dietary requirements. Sally is Libby’s sister who runs Greyfriars House.

What’s your top tip for saving money?

We did a lot of things ourselves and kept things simple which helped, shopping around really helped too.

… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?

Definitely food and drink.. makes a good party!

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

We ordered all of our invites and thank you cards via Papier and we’re so happy with the quality. We also used Zazzle for our table numbers etc.

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

YES! I never thought I would have picked the dress I did, I tried on quite a few different styles that I had always I imagined I would wear and something wasn’t right. Finally I found THE DRESS!

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

The dress designer was Stella York and the boutique was Tilly Mint in Fleet

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!

I am not a girly girl so jewellery and accessories aren’t really my bag.. but I wore diamond earrings that are my mums and my shoes were a cheap purchase from New Look.

And what did the groom wear?

Jacket from Moss Boss, shirt Charles Twyett and trousers Top Man.

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

They all picked their own dresses and were all in white which I loved!

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

My lovely lovely family friend Sophie Rowatt did my make up she also came to the wedding so complementary touch ups were such a bonus !

The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?

We had tea time cakes on cake stands which were made by Matts mum. The cake was also our dessert.

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

For our first dance my sister sang and my nephew played guitar which was so lovely. We then had DJ Phil Brown for our evening entertainment.

Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:

I think in some cases you need to be selfish and remember it is your day.

What’s the best thing about being married?

Knowing we have made this commitment to each other with our friends and family present.
