Hey lovelies! I suspect some of you may be discovering the English Wedding Blog for the first time, after all, ’tis the season for popping questions! Welcome!! So the third in our ‘favourites’ series this Christmas is all about wedding dresses. We love to support independent designers; we know so many of you are looking for a dress which is unique, different and beautifully you. So this little list of our top favourite wedding dress designers for 2018 is here to help! In no particular order….
1. Joanne Fleming
Joanne’s dresses are the most breathtaking creations you could dare to imagine. With intricate hand embroidery and stunning detailing, these are designer dresses to die for.
2. Caroline Castigliano
A long time favourite for classic brides, Caroline’s signature flare skirts and belts are some of our favourites. Perfect for the dance floor, in classic silhouettes with a modern and unmistakably Castigliano twist!
3. Charlotte Balbier
For me, Charlotte is a designer whose style is pure romance. Her gowns mix traditional and fairytale styling with a contemporary twist, always beautifully creative and captivatingly pretty!
4. Emma Victoria Payne
London designer Emma’s 2018 collection is just gorgeous. Sleek, modern styling and feminine silhouettes make this a top choice for fashion forward brides. We love Emma’s bridal jackets and the amazing reviews on her Facebook page!
5. Kate Halfpenny
A leading UK designer, Kate’s gowns need no introduction. The 2018 bridal collection is inspired by nature with floral laces, botanical embroidery and palm appliques – it’s simply perfect and we love it!
6. Suzanne Neville
Suzanne’s collection for 2018 has something for every bride: with elegant lines, figure-hugging silhouettes and full skirts. I adore the simplicity of the Coco, Swanson and Geddess gowns – but the romance of Belvedere and Beaux are truly divine.
7. Stewart Parvin
Stewart Parvin’s wedding dresses are classic and timeless: beautifully made with a look of pure elegance. For country estate weddings and the most exquisite of hotel receptions, Stewart’s classic styling couldn’t be more perfect.
8. Ailsa Munro
Ailsa’s separates are the loveliest imaginable – perfect for a seaside or summer festival wedding, they’re as gorgeous to dance in as they are for turning heads as you walk down the aisle. With the most beautiful silk fabrics and sheers alongside fabulously colourful gowns, Ailsa’s collection couldn’t be more perfect for adventurous spirits and beautiful modern brides.
9. Sassi Holford
Sassi’s collections are designed for the modern bride looking for fashion forward gowns with a flattering and beautiful silhouette. Vintage brides will adore Constance; while Daenerys is irresistible and Ester so perfect for walking down the aisle!
10. Alice Temperley
Alice Temperley’s wedding dresses are quintessentially British. Alice uses the finest tulles, silks and laces to create a deeply romantic, ethereal and decadent look for modern brides.
11. Charlie Brear
Charlie’s creations are gorgeously different, with a fresh look for sassy 2018 brides. We love how inspiration for the collection comes from Cher, Pretty Woman and with a little 90s attitude thrown in! Think gorgeous fabrics and fashion-led design with a relaxed vibe, pleats, necklines and pockets!
12. Suzanne Harrington (Vintage Trousseau)
Vintage Trousseau is a wonderful boutique in east London, home to designer Suzanne Harrington whose dresses are inspired by days gone by, with a romantic and feminine twist.
13. Legend Bridal
We love Legend Bridal’s bold, alternative style. Game of Thrones fans will adore their creations – their style is for strong, creative women who love to stand out from the crowd and dream of a princess look – not a fluffy, wilting princess dying to be rescued but a heroine with her own unique dreams and style.
14. Naomi Neoh
Naomi’s wedding dresses are the most enchanting combination of delicate fabrics and modern styling – I adore the palest grey of her Venus gown (top image) – each individual gown is so utterly romantic, don’t you think? 2018’s Celestial collection uses the finest light silks in subtle hues, delicate French Chantilly laces, handmade silk rose corsages and subtle beading, combined with modern elegance to create dresses for an utterly romantic bride.
15. Amanda Wakeley
Amanda Wakeley’s 2018 collection took me a little by surprise – the incredible effect of combining classic styling with wow factor embellishment is truly stunning. The grecian influence is exquisite in gowns like Carmenta and Phoebe, while strings of sparkling beads, starched ruffles and the most wonderful geometric detailing make this a captivating collection, and one of my absolute faves for 2018 brides.
16. Phillipa Lepley
For sheer luxury, Phillipa Lepley is one of the best designers worldwide. Her collection draws inspiration from previous brides and their one-of-a-kind couture bridal gowns. Phillipa’s irresistibly romantic statement pieces use the very best Italian luxury satins and silks to hand-worked French lace and tambour beading as well as delicious colours other than the standard white and ivory. This is creativity and elegance personified – the best of the best.
17. David Fielden
David Fielden’s gloriously theatrical bridal gowns speak for themselves. With the most romantic embroidery detailing and exquisite lace, David creates a look which is uniquely feminine and artistic – every gown a showstopper. We love his incredible floral hemlines, macrame styling and edgy layering – these are dresses with ageless charm blending contemporary design and fantastical whimsy.
18. Stephanie Allin
With her new 2018 collection La Vie En Rose, Stephanie takes exquisite fabrics and transforms them into dream dresses for every bride. The look is romantic and classy, with soft chiffons, pastel coloured beading, burnt out silk devoré fabrics, intricately embroidered tulles, printed silk and low back details – and the stunning Alexa gown will take your breath away!
19. Ian Stuart
Who hasn’t dreamed of an Ian Stuart gown at some time in their wedding planning… or stopped dead while leafing through a glossy wedding mag at the sight of his dramatic campaign images? Last but by no means least (as if!!), Ian’s statement dresses are perfect for a cathedral wedding (where you really want to turn heads) or a grand, opulent and eclectic stately home celebration. The 2018 Le Jardin collection includes all of the opulent fabrics, embellishments and colours we love Ian Stuart for! Don’t miss Mardi Gras with its tumbling pink taffeta or the incredible Opera Noir – as darkly enchanting as its name.
