“Celebrating with closest friends and family is one of the most important aspects for most at their wedding, however one of your closest family members can be left behind.

“There are now many dog walkers and dog sitters that will bring our furry friends to join the celebrations for a short while.

With a little (or a lot of) training they could be the ring bearer and escort your bridesmaids down the aisle or if their temperament isn’t suitable just come to share a few minutes of your special day.

If you love colour and are searching for styling ideas for your wedding which are a little more interesting than most, today’s gorgeous wedding is perfect! The multicoloured hanging lanterns are spellbinding – alongside Alison’s ribbon decorations and pretty DIY touches, they make for a fabulous theme and colour palette!

“Our wedding was exactly what we wanted. Styling was colourful but simple. I love tulips so was set on these as my flowers. I pinned a lot of rustic type things but decided to put my own spin on things with colourful ribbon instead of twine and string.

Matara is beautiful and the hilarium is an amazing space to decorate. We decided on paper lanterns to hang along the aisle and in the dome and I didn’t want chair covers as chairs were lovely so we decided to hang ribbon on the backs to make it more interesting. The hilarium also has a gorgeous wall of fairy lights!

Barns make beautiful, versatile wedding venues and the way they are styled can make all the difference to the feel of your barn wedding! Whilst some are new and purpose built venues or have been dramatically renovated most were built with very different intentions, so whilst having lots of character they can appear cold or agricultural which may not be the look that you are going for.

1. Adding softening textures to barn spaces

The super high ceilings add dramatic scale but bring intimacy back into your style and to soften the structure consider hanging sculptures, lighting or foliage at the height of the beams, there are so many exciting options within any theme which can make your style unique and create a big statement or add softness to the building.

2. Making a big floral statement

A barn can absorb decor and the items that you thought would feel big suddenly don’t have the same impact in a barn. Large arrangements of flowers and foliage look great against a characterful barn backdrop.

“Wedding Photography is my passion. I also really love purple and want it to be the Pantone colour of the year soon!

My style is unobtrusive reportage for most of the day and I pride myself on nipping through the formal group photos quickly and efficiently, leaving the rest of your wedding to unfold naturally.

After you’ve got the engagement ring on your finger, celebrated, set the date, and booked the church or Registry Office, the next service that you need to research is your photographer!

Unlike most other wedding services, major wedding venues and the photographer are the only ones that can only do one wedding PER DAY – So, if you have someone in mind, you need to check that they have your date available and book it in as soon as possible.

In the past, I have felt extremely honoured to have had some of my couples book their wedding date around my availability. If that doesn’t give me warm and fuzzy feelings, I don’t know what else will! I asked one of these brides, who is also now a fledging photographer and a good friend of mine – why? Why would you book your date around me?

Have you ever wondered what makes your wedding photographer tick? Why choose photography as a career, and why weddings? And how do you know your photographer will work their heart out to capture your day and get the most amaaaazing photos for you to remember it by? Our lovely friend Sheryl has a story to share with you…

“I would like to introduce you to ‘us’ – the creative types, the artists – A huge… ‘Hi’!!

I am coming to you now from the photographic side of weddings – but I used to be a professional dancer/actress in London theatres and also abroad. I then moved into teaching and personal training, and finally settled down with my husband, a musician/songwriter and together we had a little boy called Bailey.

After leaving ‘The Arts’, I always felt that it had left a peculiar void in me – something deep in my heart and soul that wasn’t fully satisfied. It was nothing at all to do with my home life, solely to do with the inventive and artistic side of my personality.

Our wedding was a mixture of a village fete and a 1930s edwardian carnival. It sort of evolved once I had picked the dress and the invites had been designed. The majority of suppliers were recommendations from Facebook, Pinterest and trawling through the internet.

We did everything ourselves with the help of friends. The village hall came with lovely old wooden chairs and tressel tables. We put these in the marquee and then added our detail. Our wedding invites were made into place mats and guests were given colouring pencils to show their artistic talents.

Wedding stylists seem to achieve a cohesive look effortlessly – combining beautiful florals, stationery, locations and decor with a talent and instinct I wish I had. I’d love to be able to style something as beautiful as this… romantic, feminine colours against a rustic backdrop create such a glorious ambience for a wedding. Write up by Hollie from Daisy Says I Do

Ever since I sourced some gorgeous rose gold sequinned fabric I have been dying for an opportunity to develop a styled shoot to use it. After meeting Tim Wiltshire, owner of Priors Tithe Barn in Brockworth I created a vision for a luxurious opulent feel in a romantic rustic setting, copper details and a statement flower wall. I love everything from design through to the final detail and found some amazing suppliers with an equally meticulous approach to help my vision become a reality.

Theirs is a wonderfully glamorous wedding and I love the pinks and details – and the blossom is fabulous! Springtime is well and truly here today!

Lucinda’s top advice for other couples is fab: “Make sure you enjoy your whole day and take a minute every now and then to sit back and look at how much everyone is enjoying themselves, try and take mental images! And failing that, make sure you get a fantastic photographer to capture those moments for you, it’s worth it!”

Today’s wedding has the most glamorous dress ever, a gorgeous couple and some exquisite details. The reception venue is a highlight: a fabulous party space with tons of character. The cake table is wonderful, the table styling quirky and fun. This is a party spread over several days… and it’s awesome. I think you’re going to love Maddy and Adam’s Cheltenham wedding!

I loved this day. Ever since my first days as a photographer ‘paying her dues’ I have photographed on the steps of Pittville Pump Rooms. Parkfit, fun runs, charity events and Zumba plus numerous family shoots. This park has a special significance to everyone I know in this town.

“All three locations for this wedding felt like home, and the entire day had the atmosphere of being ‘one big happy family’ I love how Maddy and Adam threw tradition to the wind and really did it their way. I am so honoured that they chose me to record their day.”
