Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? I’ve had a 4 day extravaganza of a weekend with a concert on Thursday, shopping day Friday, calligraphy class on Saturday and 2 mountains climbed on Sunday! I barely know what day it is with all that going on, so it’s nice to be sat at my desk now with Bertie cat, where we have a fabulous wedding up our sleeves to share with you lovely folks out there in internet land.

Nowadays, more and more people want a wedding that people will remember, which could mean anything from doing a synchronised first dance that goes viral on social media, or arriving at the wedding on a tractor.

One of the most effective ways to make sure that your wedding gets talked about for years to come is to pick a unique wedding venue — especially if it showcases your personality, and matches your chosen wedding theme.

Luckily, for those of you getting married in Britain, there are plenty of incredible places to get married that will ensure that your wedding is one for the ages.

Last summer I styled an editorial photoshoot very close to home – as many of you know, I live on the edge of the Lake District and within minutes’ walk of the beach. When lovely Sheryl from Oobaloos Photography suggested we do a photoshoot here, I just couldn’t say no. I’m a huge believer in letting your surroundings influence the style of your day, and my choice of suppliers to take part in the shoot was inspired by the wild beaches of south Cumbria – my favourite place in the world.

Kathie and Mike’s wedding is one of those glorious days which reminds me just what it’s all about. It’s not the colour palette or how many bridesmaids there are; it’s not the dress or the flowers in your hair – it’s the love, the laughter and the once-in-a-lifetime memories you’re making together. This is exceptionally beautiful, and grabbed my heart as soon as I saw the pics by our lovely friend Sheryl at Oobaloos Photography.

If you love where you live, why not incorporate the essence of the place into your wedding day? You really can get married wherever you’d like nowadays – with the help of a celebrant you can say your vows on the beach, on a mountain top, on a boat, a lake… pretty much anywhere. I’m one of those lucky creatives who live close to the Lake District – and today’s blog post is all about bringing the spirit of a place into your wedding styling.
