Unique and stylish, spacious barn wedding venue with two barns to choose from! The Cissbury Estate is in the South Downs national park, with beautiful grounds making this a tranquil haven to enjoy. The barns themselves are 200 years old, brick and flint and were used for sheep farming back in the day. They’re now beautifully transformed inside, with huge doors opening onto a lawned garden and patio area. The light floods in when these are open – so they’re wonderful if the weather is on your side! Surrounded by woodland, the barns are secluded and this makes them a really special place for your Sussex wedding.

I love everything about today’s wedding – the joyful colours, the happy couple and their gorgeous smiles, Charlotte’s fabulous Lucy Can’t Dance dress and Pete’s tweed suit (orange buttons get a YESSS!) and the vibrant floral styling on the tables. Here’s a wedding to Pinterest the hell out of – you’re gonna LOVE this! Images are by lovely English Wedding member Helen England Photography.

We got married at St Michaels and all Angels Church in Withyham, Hartfield and had our reception at The Bell, Ticehurst. We wanted to get married in church and luckily for us, Pete’s parents attend St Michaels and all Angels which is not only visually beautiful but the choir (Pete’s Dad sings in the choir), the bells and the fabulous Vicar James made our ceremony very personal. We knew we wanted The Bell, It is a quirky, boutique pub in which we have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries so was a natural choice. Tessa, the wedding coordinator, and the whole team made us feel important and special. One of my strangest, and happiest, memories is watching the team dancing to our wedding playlist whilst serving dinner.

Reportage wedding photography has my heart. In the 10 years since English Wedding began I’ve seen thousands of weddings. They all have a story, they’re all personal and unique and beautiful. And the images which capture the spirit and story of a wedding are the images which will stand the test of time. Always.

So it’s with genuine pleasure that I’d like to introduce you to one of my favourite reportage wedding photographers in the UK. Sussex wedding photographer Martin Beddall specialises in reportage photography (otherwise known as documentary wedding photography, or wedding photojournalism) – his website is a brilliant place to go to see what reportage wedding photography is all about.

Wedding photography for couples who don’t want all that old fashioned, traditional setup stuff – but instead, want their wedding day captured in a series of natural, evocative images, that capture the atmosphere of the day. The story of the day. Natural, honest, unobtrusive reportage wedding photography.

Lizzie and Dan’s wedding is a classic – timeless styling, an elegant colour palette and beautiful sunshine… the flowers are lush, in a soft palette of dusky pinks, and the beautiful atmosphere they created is one of tranquility and romance. Lizzie is stunning in her Cizzy Bridal dress, and Dan is every bit the classic English groom in a smart navy suit with Ted Baker waistcoat.  The venue is Wadhurst Castle, and all of their lovely photographs are by Nick Davies Photography.

I loved getting ready- we used the bridal room in the castle so both mums and my bridesmaids had the whole morning together- it was such fun, we gave out pressies and Dan had written me a great card which made me laugh and cry! I also remember the moment the door opened to the walled garden & I saw all of the guests turn as I walked up the aisle, from then it really was the most amazing whirlwind!

Hey lovelies! How are you on this lovely Wednesday morning? I’ve been beavering away at my calligraphy accounts since yesterday, and all the numbers are breaking me – so I thought it would be lovely to stop for a moment or two and write about Ella and Will’s gorgeous countryside wedding. Oh, and to swoon over their beautiful florals and all the pretty handmade touches they incorporated into the day. They’re the loveliest couple, and their wedding was captured perfectly by lovely Guildford wedding photographer Charlotte Razzell Photography.  Enjoy!    Claire xxx

Zelie from The Homegrown Flower Company made our beautiful bouquets and large arrangements for outside the chapel and marquee. She knew I wanted something totally wild and colourful to tie in with the flowers we were doing ourselves and that I really didn’t want a bouquet that looked formally arranged. She certainly exceeded expectations plus my bouquet smelt truly amazing! I still have it now dried and in a frame.

7 speeches, pretty spring florals and a Swedish twist make this wedding totally unique, beautiful and captivating. Gorgeous bride Malin wears a beautiful dress from Isabella Grace Bridal with the prettiest lace detailing – and groom Simon looks dapper in Ted Baker. I adore the florals and simple, summery colour palette and I know you will too! Images are by lovely English Wedding Directory member Damion Mower Photography, based in Buckinghamshire.

We looked for photographers online for quite a while. Damion’s portfolio really stood out for us. We also liked his documentary and personal style which really shone through on his website.

Damion was outstanding. He went above and beyond what we expected. We originally had a lower budget for a photographer and learning from friend’s mistakes in the past we opted to pay more and he was worth every penny. Right from the start he insisted on a FaceTime call to really engage and connect about our requirements. The engagement shoot went fantastically well and really built on our relationship with him so we had no doubts on our big day.

Today’s wedding is incredible – I fell hard for the gorgeous red peony bouquet, which matches beautiful bride Charlotte’s hair perfectly! The venue is spectacular… if you’re looking for a wedding venue in the south east of the country, and want to make a real statement – then this is absolutely one to go see! David and Charlotte’s day is filled with thoughtful handmade touches, beautiful moments, and love and laughter. I hope you love it as much as I do!

We got married at Battle Abbey School in Battle, East Sussex. I grew up in Hastings (which is just down the road) and David has come to adore the coast so the setting and the location was perfect for us. For our wedding we decided on a book theme. Both of us are avid writers and readers and the love of a book is what heavily fueled one of our first conversations. Battle Abbey offered the opportunity to have our wedding breakfast in their library – which convinced us that it was the perfect setting for our day. Around the wedding we had various literature related items – book centerpieces, paper flowers, a table plan constructed of book pages. It was great to bring that love of ours into such a special day. I think the style of our wedding was quite classic, with the setting of Battle, the tails for the boys and lace on my dress.

People ask me what I look for from a wedding submission for the blog…and this shot of a Laura’s bouquet is exactly the kind of image I LOVE… it sets the scene for one of the loveliest weddings I’ve seen all year. Bride Laura is gorgeous, Kris is ever so handsome, and the images capture the spirit of the day from the ceremony through to the dancing at the end of the night – and with so many glorious details in between. I’m thrilled to feature Kris and Laura’s wedding on the English Wedding Blog

Tenterden harvest festival wedding blog by One Love Pictures (28)

We hadn’t really gone for a theme, we just wanted something quite informal (hence the non matching bridesmaid dresses). When I got my dress we worked the style and materials around that. Kris’s waistcoat had been worn by his step-dad at his wedding to Kris’s mum so we were thrilled to be offered that, and that helped set the colour scheme, and we live a very rural life in Wiltshire so it was natural to go for a sort of harvest festival feel with the wheat ears.

Good morning lovely! Today we have the loveliest countryside wedding for you, with beautiful bride Victoria and her gorgeous groom Will. Theirs was such a warm, welcoming and relaxed country wedding – from the old English pub before the ceremony through to the (awesome!) dancing – and yes, we have the photos! – this is wonderful.

Victoria told me “It’s amazing how many hidden talents you’ll find amongst family and friends and everyone was so willing and keen to help which was brilliant & we really appreciated everyone’s input.” Her sister made the cake; a friend provided all of their wedding stationery and the table plan was brilliantly handcrafted by the bride’s cousin.

Neil explained about a little surprise Victoria’s father had in store… “In all my time as a Sussex wedding photographer I’ve never seen one before, but apparently it’s a Sussex tradition that the bride is pulled in a cart to the church by her father & then once she is married she is pulled away from the church by her new husband. Having spend some time getting ready and with her beautiful wedding dress on I was so impressed to see Vicky laugh and get into the cart.

Their day was styled around a romantic 1920s theme with the key look being elegant and traditional. Kym looks amazing in her Suzanne Neville wedding dress – perfect for such a stunning wedding venue.

You just can’t beat a theatrical venue – and today’s is a showstopper! You’ll love it… Sarah and Nigel were married in Brighton and had their reception at Brighton Music Hall… with three fabulous tipis for dancing the night away!

A real wedding at Brighton Music Hall with Sue Kwiatkowska Photography (9)

Sarah is a genius – she wore a beautiful bridesmaid dress instead of a wedding dress: it’s elegant and graceful and beautifully different. She looks amazing. I would love to see more brides doing the same: there are some incredible evening dresses and bridesmaid dresses out there… and they’d make the loveliest bridal gowns!

I love everything about this wedding – first and foremost the creativity in planning and styling the day. Sarah says “Do what you can yourselves. Flowers, stationery, cakes.  And if you do buy then don’t automatically go for the wedding option as these will be a lot more expensive. We just got normal cakes and dressed them up ourselves and my dress was a bridesmaid dress, so a fraction of the cost of a bridal gown.” Brilliant advice – and there’s more at the end of the blog feature today. Enjoy!

Amy and Peter’s wedding is beautiful and traditionally vintage, with lots of handmade touches. I was so pleased when Amy got in touch to show me their wedding – it’s full of ideas and handmade DIY touches I think you’ll really love. The antique lace Amy used for her bunting and tablecloths, and the antique lace doilies, really make for the prettiest feminine style.

Vintage wedding at Pashley Manor by Caitlin Mogridge (44)

Even Amy’s dress is a one-off (and doesn’t she look incredible?!) She bought her wedding dress from an American vintage shop online and had it customised by a dressmaker in the UK. With simply beautiful accessories it’s the perfect vintage bridal look.

Flowers are another highlight: Amy knew she wanted wild flowers in pastel colours, and ended up choosing hydrangea, stocks, peonies, roses, lilac, lavender, astilbe and wax flower. Amy’s bouquet was a loose, hand-tied bouquet, and she used an antique lace ribbon and a brooch given to her from Pete on an anniversary to tie it together. Gorgeous, don’t you think?
