Spring/Summer Afternoon Vintage Tea wedding inspiration
Today’s beautiful feature fits perfectly with our grand millennial wedding style blog from Saturday. Afternoon tea has been such a popular style for weddings in recent years, and with micro weddings a growing trend for 2021 I’m sure this look will be huge for a while yet! I love today’s feature most of all for its story. Lovely Gail Gardner told me the tea set itself has a story: it belonged to her mum, who collected the pieces and treasured them. After she sadly passed, Gail’s dad gave the set to his daughter – a true family heirloom. This editorial feature is all the more special for its story and I’m so proud to be able to share it with you today.
The tea set is also so very special to me. I remember my mum buying each cup and saucer over the years as it was expensive. My dad gave this to me about 6 months ago, I was so touched. This was partly behind the inspiration of the event along with it being lockdown and missing catching up with everyone I love for tea a catchup.
This wonderful photo shoot, perfectly captured by photographer Stacey England (S E Wedding Photography) came to fruition by a handful of talented Essex based wedding suppliers who gathered together to create something beautiful and refreshing and something we can all relate to.
Just days before the most recent lockdown, Gail Gardner (Wedding Hair by Gail Gardner), arranged this styled shoot based on an idea she had in mind. Afternoon tea and catching up with family and friends is something we can all relate to so Gail decided to set about showcasing a traditional vintage afternoon tea based on a beautiful sunny Spring / Summer afternoon, something we can all look forward to enjoying again very soon.
Set in a rural location in Essex, this traditional Afternoon Vintage Tea display was themed using timeless furniture, vintage books and props supplied by the very kind and very talented Amy of Anthology Vintage Hire. It’s incredible how Amy can create any theme with furniture, props and a very good eye!
The beautiful Models are Amy Weston and Laura Matecki, who are sisters. Both are dressed in stunning timeless clothing, which came from a charity shop.
The flower displays and stunning Heart wreath were created by the incredible Kate from Tangle and Thyme. Kate has so much patience and really listens to you, she grows almost everything in her own garden and spends hours lovingly creating master pieces carefully choosing each flower and foliage stem to create a bespoke display to fit any event.
The beautiful vintage naked cake and fairy cakes were created by Mary (@yummybaker12) using her own secret recipe.
The vintage themed makeup is by the Elaine Marie (Elaine Marie Makeup). Elaine has worked in the wedding industry for many years and knew exactly what application of makeup would fit the theme. Hair was created by Gail Gardner Wedding Hair.
