You want everything about your wedding to be perfect, spectacular, and wonderful. And this most definitely includes the wedding rings. Especially when you consider that you will be wearing this ring every day, from your wedding day onwards.

The choices for men’s wedding bands has increased massively over recent years. This is of course brilliant news, but for some men, the incredible choices can feel a little overwhelming.

Not only are there different styles and colours to choose from, there is also an array of metals. Gone are the days when it was a choice between silver and gold.

This guide is designed to help you choose – or at least get you started so that you know what to look out for. You can read more about men’s wedding ring choices here

The main considerations are style, colour, and metal. Some men may also like to think about what the ring symbolises.

Style of Ring

Traditional gold and silver wedding bands of course remain a very popular choice for both men and women – after all you can’t go too far wrong with tradition.

Traditional styles are also available in less traditional metals such as tungsten carbide and titanium. These give men a traditional looking ring but with the benefit of being stronger, more durable, and with extreme scratch resistance.

Some of our silver and gold tungsten and titanium rings have a contemporary element that adds extra style and pizzaz to the ring.
Our Lucid ring for example, is a silver ring made with tungsten carbide. The centre is brushed silver. This contrasts with the polished silver bevelled edges. Such subtle details transform the ring into a style that is unique, and contemporary. Rings may be dome shaped, have bevelled edges, or a combination of brushed and polished gold or silver.

There are many men’s wedding bands available that stand out as bold and highly distinctive. Some rings include a groove (or grooves) of a different colour. This is like a thin line running through the ring. This may be a groove of blue on an otherwise silver ring, or a groove of gold on an otherwise black ring, for example. These grooves can be in the centre of the ring, or to one side, and some rings have a double groove.

A ring with an inlay is a ring that has a section of a different colour or frequently, a different material. This is often a natural material such as natural wood, iridescent abalone shell, mother-of-pearl, or naturally shed deer antler. These rings are inspirational choices for men’s wedding bands. They are perfect, most particularly, for men who love nature and the great outdoors. They make a ring for men that is totally unique, stunning, and irresistibly eye-catching.

What Colour Wedding Ring for Men?

When choosing your wedding band, colour may be the first port of call. Think about whether you prefer traditional gold or silver, or if you want to break with tradition and go with a different colour.

Black wedding rings for men have seen a burst of popularity over recent years. Some men may enjoy making this bold choice as a definite break away from tradition – something different to their parents and grandparents before them.

Not only that, black is also a strong colour that suggests a sense of fearlessness and strength. As a wedding band, black can be seen to represent the seriousness of your devotion and commitment to your partner.

You may also like to consider rose gold for a man’s wedding band. With its pink hue, rose gold has a romantic feel to it. Gentle, warm, and simply sublime!

Blue wedding rings for men can be seen to represent a man’s loyalty and truthfulness. Blue contrasts beautifully with silver and black rings.

Some wedding bands for men are either black or silver, but with a bold and vibrant interior, such as green, red, or blue. Around the edges of the ring, you can just see the colour of the ring’s interior.

Once you have decided on your preferred colour, start to get an idea about what kind of ring style you would like. Choices range from traditional, traditional with a contemporary twist, to unique and distinctive rings that have coloured grooves, or inlays such as wood, shell, or antler bone.

Choosing which Metal

For men’s wedding bands, both tungsten carbide and titanium are excellent and superior choices. Not only are they available in a tremendous array of styles, but they are also more practical than any other ring material.

Both tungsten and titanium are metals with superpowers. They are phenomenally strong and durable and have extreme resistance to scratching. No matter what grit, grind, labour, or adventure you put your ring through, a tungsten or titanium ring will keep shining, and remain perfectly intact. The only way to break a ring made with tungsten or titanium is pretty much smashing it with a hammer.

Tungsten and titanium are available in an array of colours including gold, silver, rose gold, black, and brown. As mentioned in the last section, there are also an abundance of unique and stunning styles to choose from.

Although both metals are incredibly strong, there are some differences between the two.

A Tungsten Carbide Wedding Band

Almighty tungsten is the strongest of all natural metals when it comes to tensile strength. This is its resistance in terms of breaking under tension. You can safely say that your tungsten wedding ring simply will not break. Unlike gold which is a soft metal and tends to become slightly out of shape over time, your tungsten ring will retain its shape no matter what. If you wanted to break your tungsten ring, you would effectively have to smash it with a hammer. Not recommended!

As well as its unparalleled strength, it is tremendously hard. This hardness is what gives a tungsten ring such failsafe scratch resistance. A diamond is the only material that is harder than tungsten. This means that diamond is practically the only thing that can actually scratch your tungsten ring.

It is worth mentioning that a tungsten ring feels weighty and substantial.

Your tungsten ring will not need any special care over its lifetime – just a simple wipe with a soft cloth if it gets dirty.

A tungsten wedding band is ideal for practical men who work with their hands. No matter what you are doing, you can wear your wedding ring knowing that it will be just fine.

A Titanium Wedding Band

A wedding band made with titanium is also perfect for active men who work with their hands.

Titanium has the highest strength to weight ratio of any known element. This means that titanium is extremely strong but also incredibly lightweight. For men who don’t like the feel of a ring on their hand, titanium is the perfect choice. It is so lightweight and comfortable to wear, that you will soon forget all about it.

A wedding band made with titanium will give you extreme strength and durability. It also provides excellent scratch resistance.
Highly resistant to most causes of corrosion (including sea water and chlorine), titanium rings are a superb choice for men who enjoy swimming, whether it’s wild swimming, or laps of the pool.

Like a tungsten ring, the only care required for your titanium ring is a quick wipe with a soft cloth if the ring happens to get dirty.
