Lottie & Callum’s timelessly beautiful wedding at Sopley Lake, with Robin Goodlad Photography

Today just feels like a sunflower day, don’t you think? I absolutely adore this photograph from our happy couple Lottie & Callum’s Dorset wedding! It’s everything an English summer should be… and captures the relaxed, uplifting spirit of their wedding perfectly! Images are by our friend and Dorset wedding photographer Robin Goodlad. Scroll ALL the way to the end for epic golden hour, sunset and the most beautifully lit marquee by night!

How did you choose your photographer?
Robin Goodlad was recommended by our venue.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Yes he was brilliant. We have such wonderful photos and Robin really captured the essence of our wedding day. He’s very clever! We love looking through the photos and we always find new ones that we absolutely love!
Videographer details if applicable – and any thoughts for other couples about having a wedding video?
Harry’s Wedding Films. Definitely worthwhile having a video as they give a different dimension to the photographs.
Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?
We really had our hearts set on a marquee wedding and finding a venue which allowed a big enough marquee without “splitting up the party” was really difficult in the local area. Our florist recommended Sopley Lake and it ticked all of our boxes. Complete free reign on what we could do with the site and the huge space allowed us to get creative and not worry about being too squashed!
Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?
I loved my dress. It was comfortable and I felt like a real bride! I loved hunting around for a dress and found the experience magical. I definitely realised early on that I wanted a more simple design to compliment my Mum’s veil she had on her wedding day.
Callum had his heart set on a really smart navy three piece suit for the big day and we managed to find the perfect one in a small independent suit shop close to home.
Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness
The flowers totally blew me away. We asked a lifelong friend to arrange them for me and she has recently set up her own florist business- No17 Flowers in the New Forest. Caroline has known me for most of my life and knows my style, and the overall look that I was after. She managed to capture this perfectly for us.
Did you hire a wedding planner?
Rachel (RSVP New Forest) coordinated our day at Sopley Lake. She put in a huge effort to make the day run well and made it as special as it was. She ensured all the details were finished well, which took the pressure off us in the build up and also on the day itself. She goes above and beyond to make it perfect!
As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?
A local girl who lives in my parents village made our wedding cake. She doesn’t run her own business as such. It tasted absolutely divine and just what we wanted!
Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves
Callum’s Mum is very artistic and made our invitations for us. She also made all the signage and table stationery. This was a lovely touch, as it meant there was a common theme and everything matched all the way from invitations to the table plan!
Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?
Blessing for a Marriage by James Dillet Freeman
Letter to the Corinthians
A friend wrote a poem for us which was beautiful at the end of the ceremony.
What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?
Hungry Eyes- Dirty Dancing.
A favourite film of mine and also a favourite karaoke song which we have sung a lot together!
