Classic and timeless styling for Laura & Billy’s beautiful summer wedding, with Jo Bradbury Photography

Morning lovely! Today we have a family-oriented wedding which is as beautifully styled as can be. Gorgeous bride Laura married her love Billy at the Saddleworth Hotel, Oldham. They involved their twins in the day, with daughter Eva reading a poem for the ceremony and bringing a tear to everyone’s eye – the family pictures are some of my absolute favourites. Styling touches are kept simple and elegant in white with foliage detail, and the stunning photography is by Jo Bradbury.

I loved the photographs from Jo, there was lots of natural spontaneous moments that Jo captured. From start to finish Jo was brilliant on the day and took all the pressure off Billy and I, I loved the woodland shots.

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?

We chose the Saddleworth Hotel as this was a perfect location for our friends and family to celebrate with us, we love the countryside and the area but it is also not too far from the city, the grounds are beautiful and we fell in love with the venue on our first visit. The hotel specialises in weddings and they made the day perfect, it was so well organised.

Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?

I loved my dress, I choose it on my second day of dress shopping with my mum, It was the first dress I chose in the shop- The Confetti Box it was a Maggie Sottero gown which I had always loved, the shop is a well established family business which had been there for 30 years so they are real experts and made everything feel quite easy.
Billy enjoyed choosing the suits, I gave him some ideas and he was happy to go with what I liked, he went first with our 8 year old son and they got fitted and then with the best men and Ushers, he got them fom the same shop has my dress so it worked well.
My shoes were made by my friend Charlotte Mills, who is a specialist wedding shoe designer, her brand is beautiful and each shoe has a signature silver sixpence embedded in the sole, it was really important that I was comfortable on the day and the shoes were perfect, they were so comfortable as they are made in luxurious leather.

Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness

I use a fabulous florist that the hotel recommeneded- Harpers floral artistry, Kirsty does most of the weddings at the hotel so was really experienced in what worked well in the environment. I had a vision and used pinterest boars on the colours I wanted, I wanted simple white roses and geenery that looked elegant, the same in a smaller version for bridesmaids, Kirsty got my vision straight away, I always use Instagram and the photos Kirsty had on there were amazing so I completely trusted she would do a fab an amazing job and she didn’t disappoint. She recommended colours that worked well in the room for table settings and centre piece displays, I loved the finished tables.

As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?

Violets Kitchen cakes were recommended by a friend and again had a great Instagram, I had in mind quite a rustic cake with fresh flowers on the décor. We had 3 tiers and chose different flavours on each one, white choc and champagne, lemon and elderflower, vanilla. and it was really delicious.

Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves

I didn’t make anything but I did work with a friend to create the name place settings and table plan designs- Paper Doll Illustrations, I wanted to stay with the colour theme Navy and Gold and she did them beautifully.

I got my bridesmaids some really pretty Kate Spade bracelet’s for gifts.
My makeup was done by a friend who is just amazing – @CakeFaceTrace
My hair was done by a friend Kerry @hair.by.kez

I also had a chef to cook for the bridesmaids on the wedding morning which was really nice, it was very hectic so was a good choice!
We also had a sax player that was brilliant and got everyone on the dancefloor.

Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?

My 8 year old daughter ( we have twins William and Eva) did a reading which was really cute, it was through the eyes of a child and brought a tear to everyones eye on the day, she loves to read and is quite confident as she does church readings regularly.

What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?

I was trying to avoid doing a first dance has I really wasn’t looking forward to that bit but we did do quite a bit later in the evening, we had chosen Luther Vandross –
One of my favourite parts of the day was listening to the Violinist – Violin Around on Instagram, he was totally brilliant, he does lots of modern music, we choose Ed Sheeran- Perfect to walk down the aisle to which I really loved.
