If I could do one thing this Bank Holiday Monday it would be to whisk away all your worries and fill you with happy. These crazy, scary times won’t last forever, and if you’ve had to postpone your wedding until 2021 please, please look forward to your new date with absolute joy. My heart says 2021 is going to be an incredible year full of amazing wedding celebrations. Weddings like Ruth & Jonny’s. Weddings full of glorious love and laughter, and with a party to end all parties. This is epic, and I do hope it brings a smile to your day. Ruth and Jonny are just gorgeous; their day has everything – I’m in love with Ruth’s dress and all those stunning florals! All images are by one of our fave UK wedding photographers, lovely Warren from Howell Jones Photography.

How did you choose your photographer?
We chose Warren as he had photographed several friends of ours’ weddings. We commented on their wedding days how we hardly felt like the photographer was there, but we also loved that our friends had great photos that they put up in their homes! The photos were really natural and captured each day perfectly.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
We were really pleased that we chose Warren. He was really amenable to what we wanted but also guided us in areas where we didn’t really know what we wanted from our wedding photographs. We got some lovely natural shots which we were delighted with.
Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?
We got married at the local church where Ruth grew up. You can see the church from her parent’s house and it was truly special to be able to walk there to get married! The church has been the venue for many family events as well. We have been back there many times since which is wonderful.
Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?
Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness
We used www.edenblooms.co.uk. They were absolutely fantastic. They created the most amazing floral displays and bouquets and were a delight to work with. We had a consultation with them prior to the wedding and they could not have been friendlier and accommodating with our budget and my ideas about flowers. I would highly recommend them to anyone getting married.
As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?
A cake was a more last minute addition to our wedding. We ended up buying a cake from Waitrose and assembling it ourselves and using Pinterest for decoration ideas. It worked really well and the whole thing was eaten, so it must have tasted delicious!
Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves
For us the location made the ceremony and reception really special. We also had gin bottles with flowers in as centre pieces. Ruth had been saving gin bottles since we first met, so each bottle had a special meaning to us.
Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?
We said the traditional C of E wedding vows and then said additional personalised vows at the end which really added an extra touch to the ceremony. We were so pleased we did it as it means that the ceremony was personalised to us as a couple.
What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?
We danced to Walk of Life by Dire Straits. We wanted to choose a song that we would hear not just in ‘lovey dovey’ circumstances and also wanted something cheery. The song fitted the bill!
