Emma & Giles’ classic and timeless St Audries Park wedding, with Evolve Photography
Hey lovelies, how are you feeling after yesterday’s update? For me #stayathome still seems like the only possible way we can keep our loved ones safe – patience is the way to get there. Anyway… I have the loveliest wedding to share with you today. It’s a treat to be able to share these little reminders of ‘normal’ life: and Emma & Giles’s day had so many beautiful moments that make me smile. Their wedding style is classic and timeless, with some pretty personal touches (the little heather place settings are so cute!) and glorious images by our friends at Evolve Photography in Devon.
Stay safe, stay home. With love,
How did you choose your wedding photographer?
Evolve stood out to us when we performed website comparison and after seeing Mark’s portfolios that sealed the deal. We loved the way Evolve perfectly captured the emotion in each moment.
We absolutely loved Mark and Tristan! Both so professional and fun. They felt like friends on the day and the photographs they took are more than we ever imagined! Absolutely outstanding service all around with good price and fast editing and return of photos.
Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?
St Audries Park, West Quantoxhead, is absolutely beautiful; an old mansion with large grounds surrounding – a perfect backdrop for your wedding photos and wonderful escape from the city we live in.
Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?
Of course, who doesn’t like an excuse to dress up like royalty for the day?! We were both extremely fortunate finding our wedding outfits, I bought my dress in the second shop I went in and tried on 8 in total. My husband bought his suit after trying on 3 suits. It was one of the easiest tasks on our to-do list!
Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness
We did but only for the bridal bouquet and button-holes, which were lovely. The bouquet was a mix of different white roses with some dusky pink roses in between and a splash of yellow thanks to beautiful daisies. My husbands button-hole matched beautifully. We made the bridesmaids bouquets ourselves from white and purple wild heather from a family members garden.
As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?
Our cake was mouthwatering! It was designed, baked and decorated by Tib at the little buttercup cakery. The design was based on our colour scheme from our wedding invitations. We had three tiers, all different flavours with the largest one being made of raspberry, white chocolate and prosecco. Yummy!
Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves
We made the bridesmaids bouquets from wild heather grown in a family members garden and off cuts from a bridesmaid dress that had the seam taken up.
We also made all the name places on the table which comprised a cute white heart with our guests name on with splashes of gold leaf then decorated further with a miniature soft pink rose and foliage. Mounted on the back was a cute white peg that attached the heart on to each person’s wine glass.
We had so much fun with the arts and crafts and wish that we had done even more!
Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?
No, we both liked the more traditional vows.
We did not have any readings as we were keen on a short service and long party!
What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?
Ellie Goulding’s ‘how long will I love you’.
We spent a very long time choosing it but it was a strong competitor from the start. We love the lyrics and managed to choreograph the first half of song before our guests were to join us on the dance floor. As it’s a slow song it was easy to dance to, which helps when you are extremely nervous about dancing in front of an audience for the first time – thankfully no falls despite the twirling, heels and long train! Phew!
