Serena & Michael’s glamorous summer wedding with Nicholas Rogers Photography
Welcome to the week, my lovelies! I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend. We’re kicking off this week with an absolute stunner of a wedding: beautiful Serena & Michael’s Worcestershire wedding has the loveliest atmosphere of elegance and glamour – I just know you’ll love this. Their wedding photographer is new to English Wedding: Nicholas Rogers Photography is based in the Midlands – he gets a brilliant review from the happy couple. Other suppliers include Georgina Scott Bridal Boutique in Stourbridge, where Serena bought that fabulous Martina Liana dress, Secret Garden Wedding Services, Chandni Beauty, Jon Paul Menswear and Flowers of Kidderminster.
“My mum dried flowers for a year for the confetti, our conservatory was covered for months at a time! We also bought wall paper for the paper cones to put them in. They were so beautiful, all the guests loved them. We assembled the favours ourselves, painstakingly building 150 boxes, putting macaroons in them and attaching a ribbon and a tag to each one. We made our seating plan ourselves from a huge picture frame and printed the table inserts at home.
My best friend’s mum made my wedding cake. It was absolutely beautiful, you would never have thought she wasn’t a professional. She had only made one wedding cake previous to this. I was stunned when I saw it, it was absolutely incredible! Full of lace and crystals. It was raspberry and white chocolate flavour and was absolutely delicious. No one could believe it wasn’t from a professional. She really spend a lot of time testing thing out, I think it took over her life for about three months. I’m sure she was so relieved when it was finally came to the day!”

How did you choose your photographer?
The photographer was a no brainer! My mum has known Nick Rogers for years and knew he was an amazing photographer. When she showed us his latest wedding pictures we were sold.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
The photographer and videographer were a highlight of our day. They made us feel so comfortable, they were quick, but thorough, got the best shots, the guests loved them and the incredibly beautiful pictures speak for themselves! The attention to detail was amazing.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
I was gobsmacked. The quality and style of the photos were amazing, I couldn’t believe we looked so good! The phoyographs were so important to us to keep the memory of our day fresh and we couldn’t have asked for more.

Chateau Impney
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
Magical, exciting, joyful, emotional. Truly was the best day of our lives!
Your wedding style or theme:
Glamorous theme.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
I found a lot of them at wedding fairs and through friends.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Try and do as much as you can on your own! You can get loads of great ideas on Pinterest for diy favours. Try and print as much as you can yourself too. It will be the same quality if you get good paper but so much cheaper!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
The dress and venue. You have to have your dream dress, I felt amazing all day. The venue really was absolutely stunning. One of the main things the guests picked up on was the food, it’s so important to pick a venue with an amazing chef!
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
We got our invitations from https://www.pureinvitation.co.uk/ they were absolutely stunning! All the other bits like the seating plan and menus we did ourselves.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
I absolutely fell in love with my wedding dress, I had seen the designer in a magazine and then followed her on instagram and all of her dresses were absolutely incredible. When I tried it on and saw that train, I could picture myself at the bottom of the aisle.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
My shoes were another highlight for me. I got some gold strapped Jimmy Choos which was always my dream as a teenager. I felt like a princess in them although, I was struggling with them by the end of the night!
And what did the groom wear?
We saw the style at a wedding fair and knew that’s what we wanted. However, finding the fit and colour was harder than we thought! Who knew there were so many shades of Navy! We wanted the groom to stand out so decided on a different style waistcoat for Michael. We also made a last minute decision to opt for tails for the whole party! It was only when they came for a fitting that the tails just seemed to work and bring the whole classic theme together. Everyone looked so handsome, especially the little page boys.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
My bridesmaids all looked stunning in champagne and sparkles. These dresses were a saving as they were from ASOS, but they were so flattering and everyone looked beautiful.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
I found my make-up artist online after reading lots of reviews. When I went for my trial and saw her make-up collection I knew she would be amazing! She did a very soft glamorous look which complimented my skin tone and wasn’t too over the top. She was amazing on the day, keeping me calm and reminding me to breathe! www.chandnibeauty.com
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
Flowers were really important for me because real flowers make such a difference to a table centrepiece. Emma the florist at Flowers of Kidderminster was amazing, so creative and really an expert at her craft. The flowers we had were champagne roses, a pinky purply rose, eucalyptus, Freesia etc, it was such a beautiful mix!
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
The room was stunning but cream so needed a bit of colour. My chair drapes, table covers, charger plates and candle votives were dressed by Wendy and secret garden. She did an incredible job and shared our vision for the beautiful room perfectly. https://www.secret-gardenweddingservices.co.uk/
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
My best friend sang Pie Jesu in the church, she is an incredible singer, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house! We had a three piece jazz band at the drinks reception which we found on lastminutemusician.com They really set the scene. It was so surreal walking to up to all our guest with live jazz in the background, you couldn’t ask for more! My cousin also surprised me and sang the father daughter dance which was – Isn’t she lovely by Stevie Wonder. I have very talented friends and family!
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Try and spend as much of your wedding day together. Obviously you’ll be separated at times but try and share the experience so the memories you have, you can remember and laugh about together.
What’s the best thing about being married?
Even though you just go back to normal life together, everything just feels that bit more special knowing that you’ve made the promise to be life partners forever.
