Emma and Alex’s beautiful summer wedding at Athelhampton House, with Linus Moran Photography
Morning, beautiful! So today – a very special wedding and from a fabulous venue and one of my fave UK wedding photographers, Linus Moran Photography. Gorgeous bride and dapper groom Emma & Alex were married in Dorset on a wonderfully sunny day, and scrolling through their pics just makes me HAPPY! The florals (by West Dorset Wedding Flowers) are divine – this is an outdoor wedding which manages to capture the timelessness of a church wedding, with the couple saying their vows by a floral-covered stone archway. The styling is romantic and classic – it’s everything a quintessentially English wedding should be!

We initially found Linus through a recommendation from our venue. At the time we spoke to several photographers about capturing our big day. From the very first moment we talked to Linus, he was the right pick for us. He shared our vision and we couldn’t wait for him to photograph our wedding day.
The photos we got back from our special day were really amazing and managed to capture all the memorable moments, from getting ready through to the evening party, so that we’ll have them to treasure forever.
What’s more is we got our photos back really quickly (within 3 weeks) which was super, because once the day is over you just want to re-live it! If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, we couldn’t recommend Linus more highly for your big day.

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
The best day of our lives!
Your wedding style or theme:
Our wedding was loosely film themed, each table was named after one of our favourite movies and our invitations were a classic cinema ticket.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Most of our suppliers were either recommended by the venue or friends in the area.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Set a budget at the very start, keep a spreadsheet to record your spend and do your very best to keep to it!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
One of Alex’s friends kindly made the save the dates and wedding invitations. Using the same style, Emma designed the evening reception invites, table plan and table name places. It took quite some time but it was very satisfying to get them printed and see them on the day with all the other decorations.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Of course!
Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

And what did the groom wear?
Ted Baker suit hired from Moss Bros
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Dresses and shoes from Oasis
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
We hired Sapphire Styling (https://www.sapphirestyling.co.uk/). Wendy did an amazing job with both the bride and bridesmaids hair and makeup.
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
Jessie from West Dorset Wedding Flowers did an amazing job with our flower arrangements. She also created a beautiful floral arch which went over the doorway where we were married – just outside the front of Athelhampton House. We had many comments about how beautiful the flowers were from our guests.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
We decided to keep it fairly simple and classic much like the venue, we did add chair covers, sashes, table flowers and few other odd bits of decoration.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We went for a classic looking wedding cake which was plain white on all three tiers with a pleated bottom tier and sugar flowers on the top.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We had a band called “Get Lucky” who were brilliant, we knew we wanted a band with a saxophone so it sounded a bit different yet still could get the party started! They did an excellent job, they played our first dance song and some other requests, including Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” which is one of our favourite songs.
What’s the best thing about being married?
It was great to celebrate our love in the presence of family and friends and feel another level of commitment to each other following the ceremony, knowing we are now officially husband and wife!
