The horse that got away… a stunning Rownhams House wedding editorial

Published by Claire Gould on

Happy Sunday my lovelies! We have the most beautiful wedding inspiration for you today, courtesy of The Hampshire Wedding Club member Lauren Hughes. As a Hampshire wedding photographer, Lauren’s imagination and creativity is second only to the beauty of her images – and for today’s feature she pulled together a super talented team who created something truly unique and different – and wonderfully exciting!

The wedding venue is Rownhams House, and if you’re planning a wedding in Hampshire you will be thrilled with all the clever and lovely humans you’re about to discover in that neck of the woods! For Hampshire wedding photography of course you need look no further: Lauren Hughes is your girl.

I love the non-traditional look to this shoot: the vibe is ethereal with a wistful essence and dark undertones. Liv’s dress by Nortier Shallow is layered with a gorgeous nude underskirt and soft black tulle edged in horsehair braid. The shape is high fashion elegance, incorporating the black layers without even a hint of steampunk and gothic: this would make a perfect evening dress for those of you who fancy a change halfway through your day; or a fabulous combination of classic silhouette and head-turning colour for a stunning daytime wedding look!

Groom Chris wears a classic tux from Charles Gale. It’s a look you’ll see all the time on the US wedding blogs; it’s yet to really be a thing here in the UK but I love it. And – spoiler alert – when the horse took off for a solo adventure into the sunset at the end of the shoot, and the groom raced off in his 4×4 then rode back looking all unbuttoned and frankly very ‘Mr Darcy’… well, it’s my new favourite wedding look for all the guys out there! Tux + horse + sunset = WIN!

Liv’s hair is just fabulous – styled by Michelle from Bridal Hair in Hampshire, each look conveys a feeling of relaxed whimsy: the pretty undo is a gorgeous morning look for that ‘understated elegance’ vibe; and with loose waves later in the day she’s the most beautiful countryside bride! Headpieces are by Tracy at White Designs, who made these beauties especially for the shoot.

The beautiful flowers are from Flowers by Becky, who incorporated reds to lift the blooms from the black styling touches. The red accents are subtly enchanting, and the loose look to the bouquet is simply divine. The table plan, name place cards, menus and stationery are by Claire at Lily Anna Rose, who designed every piece with a decadent flair – it’s elegant and timeless and I love it! Elizabeth at CakeBuds created a work of art in 5 glorious black tiers, showcasing her talent with subtle and intricate designs on each tier. The cake sits proudly alongside Elizabeth’s cake pops and macarons and looks genuinely way too good to eat! (I’m not saying I wouldn’t.) I also love the look of the alternative cheese wedding cake, provided by Emsworth Deli – described by Lauren as a “magnificent mountain of yummy cheese” – and it’s pretty spectacular too!

Rownhams House is an exclusive Hampshire wedding venue with charming rooms clad in dark wood giving the feel of a classically traditional space. You can be married inside our in the grounds of the house; and celebrate in the mediaeval Coach House. Outside there are options for a woodland wedding and reception by a lake; overall this is a stunning venue with a laid-back approach, friendly and adaptable to every wedding style.

This look is so divine – the black and reds are super for an autumnal feel and black tux and horse, super romantic. x
