Gorgeous benches for barn, festival and tipi weddings from Partybench

Published by Claire Gould on

The biggest change in weddings in the last five years has been in venues. Back in the day, you hired a big country house hotel and / or a marquee. Now it seems half of our weddings in the UK are in barns and fields – and I LOVE that! It gives you so much more creative freedom to style your day – and fits perfectly with three MAJOR wedding styles: barn weddings, festival weddings and tipi weddings.

I’ve worked with some fabulous planners and stylists who really come into their own for planning ‘blank canvas’ weddings – and one thing I’ve learned is that logistics is a pretty big deal. You need to hire everything from loos to generators, flooring to hay bales and benches for your wedding guests.

Often tipi and marquee companies can help. And sometimes you just stumble across a brilliant idea on Pinterest which fits perfectly with your relaxed wedding style!

So today we’re talking seating. Specifically, eco-friendly, sustainable, beautiful benches for a barn wedding, festival celebration or tipi wedding. The guys at Partybench have the perfect solution for indoor and outdoor seating throughout your day – they might not work inside a stately home, but who gets married there any more?!

Partybench have supplied some beautiful and inspirational weddings and receptions over the last couple of years, from a beach reception in a cove in Devon, to a ceremony and reception in the communal gardens of some holiday cottages, to many barns and fields. Some couples just book the benches as they make great pews for the ceremony, others book tables as well to seat the guests at the reception.

One of the most beautiful and memorable weddings Partybench supplied was between an Indian bride and English groom, where the wedding reflected aspects of both cultures. The ceremony was in a marquee, and as the weather was good, the huge reception was held in a field under trees hung with lights and traditional Indian decorations. The tables were festooned with big garlands of flowers.

Another memorable wedding was one where the bride and groom chose to hold the ceremony and the reception in the village hall local to where the bride grew up. They chose a Victorian theme, and all the decorations and table settings were handmade by friends and family. There was an unforeseen power cut just after the food had been served (luckily!) and the guests lit candles on all the tables. The planned band abandoned their usual set and performed with acoustic instruments; although it wasn’t intentional, the result was a beautiful authentic Victorian vibe for the rest of the reception.
