It’s the weekend so let’s PLAY! I have the funnest, prettiest, PINKEST wedding to share with you today, with gorgeous couple Poppy and Panos. They married in church and had a reception at Rectory Farm in Cambridge, where they styled the marquee with two beautiful big chandeliers hanging from the roof, and decorated the dace floor with huge pink paddle balloons with pink and white tassels. The David Austin roses everywhere are such a show stopper – this is most definitely a wedding for those of us who love pink!

Nicola did the photos for my sister in law’s sister’s wedding, she also did the photography for a wedding I was a guest at. From looking at her pictures and experiencing her bubbly personality we knew Nicola was the photographer for us! This turned out to be TOTALLY true!

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

YES 1000% !!! From first emailing Nicola to meeting at our house to discuss our options. We felt like nothing was too much trouble for her, speedy responses to our emails (I booked her for the wrong date to begin with ARGHHHHH) The morning of the wedding was pretty hectic like you can imagine, Nicola just fitted in, she blended in with all the rest of the family and that’s why the photos look so amazing, she captured shots we didn’t even know she had taken. It was lovely to have a laugh during our photos, especially when tragedy strikes (someone lost the elastic in their trousers)! In all honesty I could not have wished for a better person than the lovely Nicola to capture our precious moments, everyone needs a Nicola on their wedding day!

Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?

I shouted out to Panos, ‘they are here’ I think he was in shock and thought something was wrong, I was that excited to see them. I remember opening the folder and seeing the cover photo of my wedding shoes and thinking WOW. Looking through them actually made me feel emotional, the day goes so quick and it was lovely to be reminded of how beautiful it was. We love the how Nicola has made them look so natural and so us if that makes sense!

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?

Pink, sparkly with a whole lot of love plus Ouzo!

Your wedding style or theme:

Im a real girly girl so of course i chose pink (id say we but Panos didn’t have much say really ha), we had silver to compliment it, My mum is super talented so we made a lot of things, including pastel shaded pom pom tress, glitter tea light holders and blossom trees. The room was filled with pink David Austin roses and hydrangeas. My husband is Greek so the table names were named after Greek Gods and Goddesses , we also handmade lollipops produced by his aunties factory in Athens as our favors..

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

It was all really recommendations, i was super lucky as i feel had the BEST of the BEST!

What’s your top tip for saving money?

Plan really well and research online, sometimes you jump at buying the first thing you see, if you research it you can often find it elsewhere cheaper or you can just get a mum like mine who can make anything !

… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?

Our flowers were a really good investment, everybody loved them and they provide such a big impact on the venue! Also the cake, it was too beautiful to eat but it also tasted amazing and again it filled such a large area in the marquee so it was more like a decoration than a cake.

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

We sourced it online, we got our invites from Pure invitations and we choose to make them ourselves, they were pink and full on sparkly with a sating bow.

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

YES i did , it was the complete opposite to what i ever wanted, i even said to my mum when we walked past that section ‘ there is no way im going im with a dress like that ‘ and what did i do , tried it one and fell in love ! we bought it that day!

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

The dress was by Mori Lee and was bought from the fantastic Tailors Cat Cambridge !

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!

My dress was ivory satin with a band of beads on the waist, it had satin buttons all the way to floor with a very long train, i had a cathedral length veil with tiny swarovski crystals! My shoes again were sparkly Jimmy Choo’s with a pointed toe, very classic like the dress. My dad gave me a diamond necklace the night before, something which i will treasure for ever. i wore pear drop earnings with a kind of art deco feel to them.

And what did the groom wear?

Panos wore a dark navy Ted Baker suite with waistcoat. he combined the pink theme by wearing a pale pink tie and patterned pink silky in his pocket. He like me loves shoes so he wore black patent shoes from Russell and Bromely.

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

My girls looked beautiful, we bought there dresses from ASOS, they were grey with silver sequins on the top, a v neck and short sleeve, the bottom was long layers of net to the floor. There shoes were a blush pink with diamante detailing. i go them each a necklace with their initial on to wear on the day too! They were one cool bride tribe ! i also had a flower girl, she had a beautiful Ivory dress which was frothy with net at the bottom, she wore a flower crown made of gyp and sating ballet pumps.

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

i originally wanted to do my makeup myself, but growing closer to the day i became nervous abut this , i love make up and am good at it but i felt more at ease knowing i would have a professional do it, i had the lovely Dani from Dani Roberts makeup do it and it was flawless! My mum a woman of many talents is a hairdresser so she did my hair for me something we have also dreamed of.

Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)

Big, Pink, and pretty.
My bouquet consisted of 4 different colored pink David Austin roses, my bridesmaids each had a bouquet made up of one of the colours.
My mum did the church flowers, which were in beautiful fluted earns , they consisted of roses, hydrangeas, stocks and some greenery.
Clare from Clare jones floral designs made our wedding flower dreams come true!
The venue flowers were in huge martini glasses, and were made up of Roses and hydrangeas in pin, they had crystals hanging from then, they were stunning!

Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?

We made about 80 glitter colored tea light holders, each has a pink or ivory ribbon around it, we also had mecury glass candle stick holders. Either side of the top table had a handmade blossom tree.

The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?

The cake was a work of art, it was four tiered the bottom was a pale pink shimmer, the 3rd was silver sparkle, the 2nd was shiny silver leaf and top was ivory shimmer, with two swoops of sugar flowers, they were peonies in blush pink and roses. The flavors we choose, chocolate and salted caramel, cherry bake well and lemon and i would like to say Hannah at Bakerlicious Boutique is a super talented lady! I cannot recommend her enough. Oh one more thing we had a grooms cake too, my husband is PlayStation made so we had a PlayStation cake with a cartoon bride and groom of me and Panos.

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

Martin at Geared entertainment was the bes DJ ever, he was like one of us, singing behind the decs and joining in, we had the Greek Zorba playing and other Greek tunes and he was more than happy to source these!

Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:

Everyone says it but enjoy every second because it goes so quick! And have what you both want don’t let others persuade you to or not to have something, make it unique and all about you !

What’s the best thing about being married?

Is the excitement of our future and all the happy times we have to come !
