Oxford brides and grooms – visit the Bodleian Libraries & Sheldonian Theatre’s first wedding showcase!

Published by Claire Gould on

I’d love to be closer to some of England’s beautiful historic cities – just to be able to explore the architecture and beautiful craftsmanship from days gone by. Seeing news from some of the glorious spaces which are now hosting weddings in Oxford has me yearning to be able to visit – and this sounds like such an exciting event I wanted to share it with all of you.

The Bodleian Libraries is throwing open the doors to its unique wedding showcase at 7pm, Saturday 3 November 2018. The event will take place in the historic Divinity School, Convocation House and Chancellor’s Court, all within the Libraries’ site in central Oxford and at the Sheldonian Theatre next to the Bodleian Libraries.

Guests will be greeted with a glass of fizz on arrival at the free event. A host of Oxford’s finest wedding suppliers as well as the Bodleian’s in-house wedding team will be on hand to inspire and advise prospective brides and grooms on how to achieve their dream wedding in the Bodleian Libraries’ special historic spaces.

Many partners, including Oxford Fine Dining, Alexandra Rose Weddings and Weddings by Nicola and Glen will be joining the showcase. As well as free tastings and demos, guests will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on workshops.

Samantha Henney, Commercial Director at the Bodleian Libraries, said: “The Bodleian Libraries’ stunning medieval buildings provide an exceptional backdrop for weddings, receptions and civil partnerships. Our highly experienced team enjoy working closely with couples to create a unique, exquisite, unforgettable day.”

Vickie Dimelow, Senior Venue Sales and Marketing Manager at Oxford University Event Venues, said: “Oxford University Event Venues are thrilled to be partnering with our colleagues at the Bodleian Libraries to offer couples the opportunity to celebrate in the University’s historic ceremonial hall, the Sheldonian Theatre. Together our teams of event professionals will ensure a day to remember in some of the city’s most famous landmark buildings.”

Doors open on 3 November at 7pm and the event runs until 9pm. The event is free. There are limited spaces available, so guests are encouraged to register in advance to receive a free goody bag. For further information and to register, visit: www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/weddings/events.
