Maidens Barn is located in Essex countryside, it’s a rural location and is a hidden gem. It’s surrounded by tranquil space and farmland. Because it’s so secluded and peaceful, it gives the feel that there’s nothing else going on in the world on your wedding day – which is exactly how you should feel. It’s beautiful and has a wonderful courtyard which can be used as one of the many scenic backdrops too.

This wedding was just so pretty – I love vintage styles and Jess and James had brought in a styling company that specialise in vintage props. Jess and James had carefully selected small accents and larger props that reflected what they wanted their wedding day to look like, and in the rustic barn setting it worked so well.
The barn is so full of character and soul, it’s light and airy for the ceremony, yet has a cosy feel for the evening celebrations. There is a little minstrels gallery too, which makes for some interesting photo opportunities of the table settings and speeches as well as a quiet area to retreat to for the bride and groom whenever they need to just stop and enjoy each others company. This is always so important and something that I suggest to each of my couples.
Jess is quite a rock chick, but wanted to feel elegant and feminine on her wedding day, so selected a Maggie Sottero gown with delicate beading and a soft hairstyle. Her flowers had a small and discreet photo of her Grandad attached to the stems so that he would be with her in spirit. I thought this was a lovely way to honour her family which is so important to them both. James looked incredible in a blue 3 piece suit complete with pocket watch.
James’s best man made a touching speech – then went into a re-working of Oasis’s wonderwall about how his best mate was leaving him to be with the woman of his dreams. It was so funny and memorable!
Despite nerves, Jess looked happy throughout the whole day and James never stopped smiling. It was great for me as I could capture lots of natural and genuine smiles all day long.
“You were so amazing Ayshea. Thank you so much for everything you did for James and I. No one else could ever have captured our special day the way you did. Xxxx” ~ Jessica
