The magic of a marquee wedding venue, with Hatch Marquee Hire (Devon & Cornwall)

Regular blog readers will know I love weddings where things are done differently: where normal rules don’t apply and unusual things can happen. So I love marquees, but on one condition: they have to be in crazy beautiful places. Like this…

Spring, Summer or Autumn, the great outdoors has an amazing advantage over any other wedding venue  – a constantly changing colour palette,  a great feeling of being in touch with your surroundings, wonderful natural light (your photographer will love you!) and of course an amazing background to your celebration.  It’s not surprising then that there has been a growing increase in demand for marquee venues, special locations with fantastic country, coast or beachside views.

So if you can’t decide between a marquee wedding and a more traditional venue, read on….Hatch Marquee Hire (one of the leading marquee suppliers to Devon and Cornwall) shares 10 reasons why a marquee venue could be the perfect fit for your wedding.

1. Take advantage of a view – bring the outside in.

Marquees enable you to be positioned in the heart of your surroundings. Don’t let a ‘ not to be missed’ view go to waste because you can’t see it once you are inside your marquee! Frame marquees are particularly good as they can be supplied with clear window walls and clear roofs, so you can be sure that the awesome views are available all throughout the day and evening.

2. It’s all about you!

A marquee venue gives you the ultimate blank canvas for you to have the day that you have always dreamt of…whether you want an opulent formal reception or a boho festival style celebration. There are plenty of venues to choose from: many are field sites but some are venues that can offer accommodation as well, which means you can spend the weekend with the people you love the most!

3. No need to follow tradition.

Marquees are great if you want to do your own thing.  You can break free from the norm and move away from the traditional wedding day format if you want to – make the day your own.

4. You get to design a marquee that suits your day.

Get involved with creating a space that suits your ideas for your day. Choose a marquee company that enables you to be part of the design process so you get a marquee layout that makes the very best of your location, day and night.

5. No two marquee weddings are quite the same.

Your marquee is designed and erected just for you. Most companies have some choice when it comes to the furnishings so your marquee will be unique for your wedding day!

6. Create your own theme from start to finish!

Of course one of the major advantages of a marquee wedding is that you can pick and choose your themes and colours as you don’t have to work with existing decor.  You can choose a modern style, classic, country, vintage, beach theme…the list is endless. Get creative and enjoy!

7. No restrictions on the number of guests.

You get to choose your guest numbers.  Whilst you do need to make sure that you have got the right size structure to accommodate everyone, essentially it is up to you how it works. So formal or informal, whatever your day or evening guest numbers a marquee is a flexible room which can be created in a size to fit your celebration.

8. Everyone has a budget to work to.

Whether you have a generous budget or not, a marquee wedding gives you greater flexibility to work within your price range. You get to choose your venue, marquee and decor, caterers, menu, bar and florist; there are a great range of suppliers for all budgets. Of course, if you want to take on some of the catering, table decorations, celebration drinks then you can…there are no constraints!

9. You get to choose your caterer.

There is such an fantastic range of event caterers that do an amazing job, using local food producers and preparing high quality food to suit all tastes and budgets – you will be in for a treat! Being able to select your caterer means that you get to choose exactly what you want to eat – from hog roasts, pizza ovens to gourmet fine dining the choice is yours.  Do a bit of research and don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations.

10. You get to choose your finish time.

Nobody wants the party to end too early and, within reason, at a marquee wedding you can decide the finish time, so make sure you have some good sounds sorted to ensure that everyone is up dancing!

  • It just doesn't get any cuter. 🥰 at @devonporthouse with the most adorable flower girls EVER!! Top tip from gorgeous bride Debbie - buy your aisle runner rather than renting. That way you're allowed to use it inside or out, you can drop petals on it, and have fun practising on it with all your little flower girls the day before!! #aislerunner #londonweddingphotographer #londonbride #englishweddingblog #loveintentionally #makeadventure#visualcoop#loveauthentic #intimatewedding#elopementphotographer#helloelopement #elopmentweddings #junebugs #wanderingweddings #theknot #loveislove #photobugcommunity #loveandwildhearts #londonwedding #londonweddingvenue
