I’m head over heels in love with Josie and Gareth’s countryside wedding… the photos are fabulous, the location is stunning, I think every detail is perfect. Josie is just so beautiful and Gareth looks fantastic. I adore the heather, the bouquet is amaaaaaazing, the orders of service are gorgeous…. what’s not to love?
The theme for the day was rustic countryside with spectacular tipis and local flowers and food. Josie told me she got a lot of inspiration from wedding blogs and pinterest but choose wedding suppliers through research and recommendations.

Emma told me, “I am so lucky to always work with hugely creative couples who really do think outside the box. Josie and Gareth were just uber relaxed and smiled ALL day – we had so much fun – the whole day had so many personal touches and felt like a fun adventure across the hills and coastlines of the their beloved South West.
The Church was beautiful beyond belief, with the blue skies behind and the white walls it was like a fairy tale castle overlooking far reaching views across moorland and out to sea. The reception venue had a proper English Country Garden feel, with box hedges, a lovely pond, water features and landscaped gardens. The Tipi was super!! Cosy once the sun had set with the fire pit roaring, smoke billowing out the top and festoon lighting added to the magic of the evening.” ~ Emma, Freckle Photography

How did you choose your photographer?
We chatted to Emma on Skype and knew that she was just right to capture our special day. We loved Emma’s style and approach.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Absolutely! Emma was fantastic. She made us feel at ease from the first time she photographed us on our Exmoor adventure engagement shoot. On the wedding day Emma felt like a friend and a guest. We hardly noticed she was taking photos!
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
We LOVED them! They capture the day perfectly and it is so special to relive all those happy memories with friends and family. The memory stick and a few print outs to get us started arrived in a lovely wooden box that has taken pride of place in our living room.
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
Rustic Exmoor wedding!
What’s your top tip for saving money?
We sent email save the dates – saving money and the environment!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
The tipis! The tipis were an extravagance but worth it as they looked spectacular nestled amongst the trees at Knapp House and the atmosphere inside was just magical!
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
We used a designer that we found on Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/au/people/farrahcareem) to create a theme for our invitations, RSVP’s, table numbers and order of service then we got them printed ourselves onto brown kraft paper, keeping with the rustic theme.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Yes but I took a long time to choose one! I tried on lots of styles in lots of different shops but it was my Maid of Honour, Vicki, who found my dress and she was right, it was the one!

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
I bought some fabulous vintage inspired shoes from Rachel Simpson (my something blue). Gareth surprised me on the morning of the wedding with a pair of stunning sapphire earrings and a tiffany bracelet – what a lovely husband I have!
And what did the groom wear?
Gareth looked handsome in a navy suit from Suit Supply with brown shoes (also from Suit Supply). Gareth had personalised tie pins made for him and his groomsmen which looked so smart!
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Multiway dresses from Dessy which we had lots of fun styling. I decided to go for two different colours as I had 7 bridesmaids and a flower girl (!). Our flower girl wore a John Lewis dress and we had the belt that was originally on my dress sewn on.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
We used Golds hair and make up from Barnstaple for myself, the bridesmaids and mother of the bride. We decided to hire a professional as with that many girls it had to be a slick operation! We had such a fun girlie morning getting ready!
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
We used local flowers lovingly grown by Penny at Radley Cross Market Garden (http://www.radleycrossmarketgarden.co.uk/). The flowers were in keeping with the rustic countryside theme displayed in vintage jugs that we collected beforehand. Sue, a local freelance florist, arranged the bouquets.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
The tipis didn’t need much decoration as they were stunning on their own with a few fairly lights. We did drape ivy around the poles, along with some rosemary which smelled amazing!
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
We decorated jam jars with hessian and lavender to use as tea light holders. We also collected vintage crockery and jugs from charity shops.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We had a naked wedding cake made by a family friend decorated with fruit and flowers, which was in keeping with our rustic theme.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We used Vegas Live (http://www.vegaslive.co.uk/) who played during the afternoon drinks reception and in the evening. They are so talented and professional and had all our guests on the dance floor until the early hours!
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Create a pinterest board for inspiration! Enjoy the day and relax – there is no point worrying about what could go wrong and most importantly don’t worry about ruining your dress – have fun in it!
What’s the best thing about being married?
Waking up every day with my husband and best friend.
