Their images are just wonderful… I’m so glad this gorgeous couple decided in the end to have a professional photographer shoot their day, as are they: “We were going to go for an amateur but looking back, we would have totally regretted it! Sandy – Bristol wedding photographer Love in Focus – was fantastic. On the day, he went above and beyond. He bought stilts so that he could get shots from above, which all the guests enjoyed! The photos reflected the day beautifully.”
I asked about homemade details and Megan and Adam told me they’d been pretty busy in the run up to the wedding! “We made table signs, painted vases, made wedding favours, bought and cut hessian, bought fairy lights… we made lots of the stuff… it was stressful but worth it. Everyone has commented on how individual it was and how it really reflected us.”
The English Wedding Blog Interview: Megan and Adam
Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
We got recommended from a friend and looked through his profile. We loved the way he caught the emotion in the wedding and the natural shots.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
YES! He was fantastic. We went for an engagement shot and he made us feel really comfortable. On the day, he went above and beyond. He bought stilts so that he could get shots from above, which all the guests enjoyed! The photos reflected the day beautifully.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
It was emotional. It took us back to the moment.
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
Happy, emotional, exciting, wonderful, beautiful.
Your wedding style or theme:
Colours- light pink and green with white and navy. We just wanted everyone to have fun! So we had lots of games and things for people to do (giant jenga, giant pick up sticks, polaroid camera, bubbles, colouring in sheets)
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Volta Catering. They were fantastic!
Which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
The photographer! We were going to go for an amateur but looking back, we would have totally regretted it!
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Labour of love!
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
It was a massive hassle! I designed it and sent it to a seamstress and someone to bead it. I then got food poisoning 2 weeks before the wedding and so it didn’t fit properly!
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
My husband bought me pearl earrings and necklace and gave it to me the night before the wedding!
And what did the groom wear? Any recommendations for tailors?
Suit from Next
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Dresses from BHS
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
A friend- she was brilliant! We did do try-outs before!
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
The church florist ordered them and we put them together
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Yes. We made table signs, painted vases, made wedding favours, bought and cut hessian, bought fairy lights…
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
See above. We made lots of the stuff.. it was stressful but worth it. Everyone has commented on how individual it was and how it really reflected us.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
My 9 year old brother made a range of cup cakes and my auntie iced them…
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
Pheonix club. They were really great. Only regret is we should have booked them for longer!
On the day tips and advice:
Take sleeping pills the night before. There is no way you are naturally getting any sleep! Get bridesmaids to think of any emergency things you might need like bobby pins, hairspray, confetti and pro plus! And just enjoy itQ
What’s the best thing about being married?
Knowing that you are both committed to each other!
