A village hall can knock thousands off your wedding budget, and still look as amazing as can be. It just needs a little more love and attention, and Kayleigh and John knew exactly how to make their village hall wedding venue look perfect on the big day.
Paper decorations, willow trees and a gorgeous handwritten table plan make the reception extra special. The flowers are fabulous and creative, and our bride and groom are just gorgeous! Kayleigh is stunning and John her perfect partner.

Our wedding story: John + Kayleigh
Wedding photographer’s website:
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer?
Absolutely delighted- neither of us are used to having our photos taken and are not that keen to be in front of the camera. However, Heni managed to put us at ease and we are over the moon with the results. We adore the photos, it provides the best way of remembering the day.

Best bit of budget advice?
Have the reception at a pretty village hall, so much cheaper than a hotel or wedding venue, but with just as much charm!

Yes! It was love at first sight.
Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:
The Bridal House Aston Clinton
Glitz and sparkle – the bride’s accessories:
I wore pearl earrings and a horseshoe necklace that John bought for me from one of the horse shows he attended.
Suited and booted – the groom wore:
Moss Bross Hired suit with crevats to match the Bridesmaids
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Plum/pink full length dresses from Debenhams
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
Professional- Makeup by Nicola Hood and Hair ‘The Annexe’ in Berkhamsted.
Susan Robinson –She was absolutely wonderful and managed to create beautiful center pieces using cake stands on mirrors and teapots with teacups, the flowers were stunning and really made the day.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Yes! We had to make it not look like a village hall, we had a marquee out the back for the food to be served so that took care of itself and then we used bunting and paper decorations with weeping willows in big pots to create atmosphere in the hall itself.
DIY – tell us about any handcrafted elements of your wedding…
It was very DIY in its combination of decorations, and John’s twin’s girlfriend made a beautiful hand written table plan.
The wedding cake: traditional or quirky?
We had a naked cake decorated with fruit and cream and jam which fitted very well with the relaxed English country theme.
