A beautiful winter pastels wedding at Northbrook Park with Sophie Duckworth Photography

Kristen and Adam’s winter wedding has everything: a pretty sense of style, DIY details and quirky personal touches which are special to them. This gorgeous couple chose to marry at Northbrook Park in winter, for the very best reasons: “it is a lot cheaper and you get to go somewhere really nice and sunny for honeymoon! 🙂

It’s this kind of creative thinking I love best about UK couples! And creativity is a key part of their wedding style too: Kristen and Adam put so much into styling their wedding with DIY invitations and details – they did an amazing job and the overall look of the day is wonderful.

Kristen is a stunning bride, wearing a gown by Sophia Tolli with Vivienne Westwood pearls and shoes by Rainbow Club. She’s radiant in the winter sunshine and looks so incredibly happy with new husband Adam – the perfect English bride and groom.

Our wedding report: Kristen + Adam

Wedding photographer’s website:

www.sophieduckworthphotography.com

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer?

Couldn’t have asked for a better photographer! Her photos were amazing and she is such a lovely person.

Wedding venue:

Northbrook Park, Surrey

Can you describe your wedding in a single sentence?

The best day ever!

What was your reaction to seeing your wedding photos for the first time?

I squealed with joy when I first saw my wedding photos. The portrayed everything that I enjoyed about our special day.

Your wedding style and theme:

Winter pastels meets diy chic with a hint of Africa.

Any happy tears on the day?

No tears, just lots of smiles

How did the two of you meet?

Through our mutual best friend – the best man. I went to school with him and Adam met him at university, where they lived together

How long did you spend planning your wedding?

18 months from our engagement to the day 🙂

Best bit of budget advice?

Have a budget and stick to it! Consider a winter wedding as is a lot cheaper and you get to go somewhere really nice and sunny for honeymoon 🙂

Wedding invitations and on the day stationery:

All hand made (eBay card and string)

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

Absolutely! Was exactly what I imagined it to be

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

Sophia Tolli, Confetti and Lace

Glitz and sparkle: the bride’s accessories:

Borrowed jewellery: Vivienne Westwood pearls which my sister in law wore on her wedding day, my great grandmother’s crystal brooch and my cousin’s shoulder length veil and my stunning rainbow club lace peep toe heels.

The groom wore:

Navy 3 piece suit (with tails), oyster coloured cravatte, cream anemone buttonhole, brown shoes

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

Beautiful full length oyster dresses from coast

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

We took over half a hair salon for the morning – they were so amazing with my difficult thick hair!

Wedding flowers:

Baby blue and cream anemones, roses and hyacinths. All prepared by our florist Sarah.

What do you remember most about the wedding ceremony?

Walking down the aisle, I was so excited and although I hate being the centre of attention, I was overjoyed to see all the people who came to support us on our special day.

Wedding readings?

Corinthians 13 – the most generic wedding reading but says everything.

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

Not really it was perfect, the marble ‘vine room’ was so beautiful and homely with the roaring fire (we put a flower garland on top of the fire place) so everyone could warm up while waiting for dinner. Then moved into the orangery which needed very little decoration as it brought the outdoors inside with plants and lovely twinkly lights.

The wedding cake: traditional or quirky?

Traditional fruit cake with some untraditional layers of lemon sponge and carrot cake – baked by my very good friend 🙂 With a cheese cake (Local English cheeses) later on in the evening.

Entertainment:

We really wanted a band and the band that we had were fabulous (Cheesecake!) They got everyone up and dancing and even had a fiddler! They were so lovely and even learned our first dance song and performed it perfectly.

My husband’s ‘musical boot’ also made an appearance which was very amusing for guests.

On the day tips and advice:

Don’t stress and just enjoy the day – have faith that everything will turn out well because even if things go wrong you’ll still have the most amazing day.

What’s the best thing about being married?

Being able to spend every day with your best friend 🙂
