Hey there lovely blog readers! I hope you like horses… and beautiful, romantic styling ideas… because I’m about to show you such a lovely shoot it’ll burn your Pinterest fingers.
Wedding photographer Penny Young is becoming a bit of a regular on the English Wedding Blog. She’s just so lovely, and we were chatting on email about a shoot she’d been involved in – I saw a couple of images and I was hooked. I had to show you!
A whimsical farm wedding shoot with stylist Christine Maciocia
The shoot was designed and arranged by talented wedding stylist Christine Maciocia. She was approached by real life couple William and Christine, who were looking to recreate the vibe of their wedding day in some new, exciting and beautiful images. They must love the results – and don’t they look amazing! It’s clear from the images they’re in love, and I think that sets this styled shoot apart from so many others – the looks of love are real.
With rustic and pretty whimsical wedding details you’re going to love!
Christine’s eye for styling an event is second to none. She must have worked her heart out sourcing and crafting all of the elements for the shoot, from the books to cones and lace. Here are a few of my favourite ideas to watch out for in the images below:
- Candelabra with ribbons and flower garland
- Daisy chain flower crown – so natural and playful
- The handwritten sign “may all your dreams come true” is homemade and looks adorable!
- Even the mismatched chairs look lovely, don’t you think?
- There’s a chest of drawers draped in flowers which looks beautiful
- The wooden handpainted signs (spot them on the back of the trailer) are a lovely little project for Dads everywhere…
- Can you spot the little corks wrapped with lace and a tea rose?
A great team of wedding photographers

Christine Maciocia introduces the whimsical wedding shoot
It was suggested that I recreate William and Christine’s wedding day on their farm. I dreamt up all the possibilities such as the barns, the vintage trailer which I styled, their pet hens, their rescue dog, and fabulous horses. I visited the farm to view the landscape and to find the ideal place for the tea party table in the romantic orchard behind their house.
For all my shoots I create and make many props myself, which gives it that vintage and quirky feel. I covered a chair in old music score about love songs. The words on it were for instance… with all my love and kisses, that naughty waltz, girl of my dreams. This all adds to the story board of the shoot that I was fortunate enough to style. I made the candelabra, hand made the little lamp shades, hand painted the chest of drawers giving it a shabby chic effect and filled the drawers with flowers.
I work very closely with my clients to create a bespoke event specially tailored to their brief. I walk around for weeks with concepts and prop ideas which I draw up and over the weeks it all comes together and the look is complete. It’s extremely exciting and I love working with colours and clients’ ideas to create a really special day for them to enjoy.
The weather on the day was very challenging: quite windy and a little rainy in the morning but by the afternoon the sun shone and the end result was magical. Christine and William are so much in love and are thrilled with the images the photographers captured on the day.
I have a BA hon degree in Fine Art and made lots of props and vintage art that I sell and over the years have used this in conjunction with my styling. I work creatively and instinctively with a big part of my heart in each and every one.
