Hello! And No. 1: The Venue
Well hello! I’ll get the gushy stuff out of the way first.
Well this is a bit overwhelming, isn’t it? Little old me? Blogging on English Wedding? I am honoured, flattered and just a little bit excited, that I get to share everything about my forthcoming wedding and marriage with all of you lovely readers! Thank you all for your votes and your kind support. I hope I can pass on what I have learnt by immersing myself in wedding talk and wedding blogs and wedding decisions — over the past 2o months I have spent engaged to Richard — about love, marriage, weddings and life!

Goldsborough Hall wedding venue review
Goldsborough Hall is a seventeenth century stately home in North Yorkshire. A former home of Princess Mary and a privately owned residence, Goldsborough Hall is a luxurious wedding venue licenced for civil ceremonies and available as an exclusive use venue for your big day.

Wedding photographer Rebecca Honeywell’s review of Goldsborough Hall
Rebecca says, “Goldsborough Hall is a gorgeous stately home set in beautiful grounds, with views over the North Yorkshire countryside. Brides and grooms have the luxury of having the whole venue to themselves, with exclusive use of the house and grounds for the day — you feel like a king and queen!
Rookery Hall wedding venue
Rookery Hall is one of Cheshire’s finest hotel wedding venues, a nineteenth century mansion house transformed into a luxury hotel with 38 acres of gardens and wooded parkland.

Photographer thoughts on Rookery Hall
Adam from ARJ Photography says, “I was impressed by the grandeur of Rookery Hall (not untypical of a Cheshire wedding venue!), and the real mixture of old and new. They hold ceremonies in the older hall and then you go over for your wedding reception in the more modern wing.

Peckforton castle wedding venue
Peckforton Castle is one of my favourite wedding venues from all of those I’ve seen in my years in the wedding industry. For a classic English wedding with unique character and thrilling history, Peckforton is perfect.

Photographer thoughts on Peckforton Castle
Top UK wedding photographer Chris Hanley has kindly written a great review of Peckforton as a wedding venue: “Peckforton reminds me of the type of castle you’d see at an adventure theme park, bold and imposing with a ferrous luminosity to excite the eyes.
Nunsmere Hall wedding venue
Nunsmere Hall is a magnificent wedding venue near Northwich in Cheshire.

Photographer thoughts on Nunsmere Hall
Chris Hanley says, “Nunsmere Hall is beautiful, oh so very English, with delightful terraced gardens, lawns, rose arches and an enchanting pond.
“It’s an inspirational place to shoot with great choices for fine weather and inclement weather. The staff were polite, professional and attentive, the catering was lovely.
The Belle Epoque wedding venue
The Belle Epoque in Cheshire is an opulent wedding venue, richly decorated and full of character. A gorgeous little gem with bags of character, I had to do a little wedding venue feature to show you this one!
Owned and operated by a single family over 35 years, the Belle Epoque has such wonderful features as marble pillars, art deco fireplaces and luscious detailing around every corner. It really makes a statement and is a glorious treat for your wedding day.

Stapleford Park wedding venue
Stapleford Park is a luxurious country house hotel in the heart of Leicestershire. A huge estate with acres of land and gorgeous accommodation, Stapleford is pretty spectacular if your wedding budget is particularly stretchy. This really is a top class venue, popular for both grand and intimate weddings, and also a haunt of the rich and famous. (For hotel guests, country pursuits are offered including game shooting — so vegans perhaps give this one a miss.) The AA has named Stapleford Park as one of the top hotels in the British Isles and it has been awarded a prestigious 4 red star rating for its accommodation.
Farington Lodge wedding venue
Farington Lodge is a grade II listed mansion house near Preston in Lancashire. Built in the 1830s, Farington Lodge had strong links with Leyland motors and has welcomed such prestigious guests as Prince Edward and Mrs Simpson, HRH The Queen Mother and HRH Prince Philip.

Brocket Hall wedding venue
Hopefully the first of many wedding venues I will be adding to the blog. This is meant as a useful resource for brides so please do use the comment form to let me know what you think!
I’d love to tour the country exploring (and dining at) all the poshest wedding venues to give you an honest review of each one. Sadly I can’t (my only mode of transport is rollerblades, which I’m good at but too old for, especially long-distance) so I’ll be asking for expert reviewers in the wedding industry: photographers and wedding planners.
