If I could feature a non-traditional wedding like this every single day, I would! The joyful air of celebration, the colour, the smiles, the fun from the very beginning until the very last sparkler twinkles out… and the cutest pooches on the planet! It’s all here. It’s wedding blog heaven, right here, today, and it’s all for you! Gorgeous bride and groom Alicia and Dan married last summer and their festival wedding is EPIC. The photos speak for themselves – but keep scrolling to find out all about their day including some brilliant Fieldgood Bar wedding suppliers for you to jot down.

Rachel popped up on a Facebook advert and we just fell in love with her style of photography.

If there was ever a time for doing things differently, it’s right now. Elopements have been creeping in popularity for a handful of years. Styled elopements like this one can inspire us all to place marriage and commitment before the massive party we call a wedding. So here’s an option for you: book a registrar and a photographer, and go get this done. You’ll be married, and you can still celebrate in style when social distancing is nothing more than a memory.

Alex and Anneka are the coolest! They chose East Quay Whitstable as their venue and focused their wedding planning on food, alcohol and music… because “these are the main things that make a great wedding and that your guests will remember!” It’s a brilliant June wedding with a neutral palette and simple, elegant styling touches and florals. We’ve featured East Quay weddings on the blog before now, and it’s a venue which always has that boho beach drifter, cool and quirky vibe. It’s definitely a favourite for English Wedding, and I just know you’ll adore Alex & Anneka’s day!

We found our photographer via the East Quay Venue Instagram page. As soon as we met Michelle and saw more of her work, the decision was easy.

Tess and Tom’s February wedding has so many layers to it: there’s the romance between our gorgeous couple. Then there’s Tess’s Dad’s story (you’ll see what I mean when you start scrolling!), which totally captivated me (and shows just what your wedding day means to the ones you love!) There’s a wonderful camaraderie amongst the beautiful bridesmaids, who shimmer and sparkle through all the photos! And I love how there’s a lovely humour in the day – as Tess puts it, “who doesn’t like a Colin?!

The images are simply breathtaking – and Tess and Tom’s review for Northbrook Park wedding photographers MIKI Studios is a joy to read! (You’ll find more on MIKI Studios in the English Wedding Directory – they’re based in the UK and travel worldwide capturing beautiful weddings like Tess and Tom’s.)

Gloriously eclectic and fun Soho wedding with Becky Harley Photography (33)

Chloe and Sam’s chic Soho wedding is wonderfully non-traditional. I love Chloe’s approach to wedding planning – she avoided the traditional suppliers and sought out more unusual things to style their day. The venue (The Union Club) is fabulous – the surroundings just seem to suit Sam and Chloe perfectly, and I think the shots of them just loving walking to the venue and in the surrounding area are unique and fascinating! Flowers are by Wild at Heart and Chloe’s dress is from Phase Eight – doesn’t she look incredible?

My wedding dress was sparkly, chic and classic and fitted so nicely. We found it on a high street bridal window shopping spree to generate inspiration and it turned out to be the one. It was also under budget, I initially set out for a different design, I really wanted a loose, boho type dress with long sleeves but couldn’t find any ready to wear ones that I liked. It’s from Phase Eight at John Lewis bridal in Oxford Street.

So here’s something a little different for your Friday lunchtime. Wedding blogs can get a little too consistently pretty… all those white dresses and delicate styling touches… and an occasional reminder that it’s OK to be different is a good thing, right?!

Alternative wedding style ideas from HBA Photography on the English Wedding Blog (15)

Last Wednesday we shared HBA Photography‘s pretty, boho inspired wedding inspiration feature in bluebell woods. (If you missed it, catch up here.) The same shoot explored a more creative, brilliantly alternative look later in the day, and the behind the scenes film we showed last week hinted at a cape of flowers.

The second part of the shoot was about making time to be creative, really being inspired by the environment. Ben had noticed a raggedy part of woodland on a previous visit, much less romantic and far more rock n roll. Our second model Suki looks the epitome of rock chick chic and we added in a touch of atmospheric smokey background tinged with just the right amount of neon! Owning the ASOS dress in the process, she performed the most effortless transition in the blink of an eye, and morphed into an almost elfin like vision in a pink lace dress, flower crown and floral cuffs. Not forgetting her companion Scampi dog, who co-ordinated perfectly with her own custom-made floral collar!

Were you around for our feature with Vintage Button Bridal Design the other day? It has to be one of my absolute favourite shoots of the year – inspiration for a sublime wedding from some amazing suppliers, with a beautiful, balletic twist. (love that word! Balletic!)

I feel equally spoiled and delighted to be sharing more from Vintage Button’s Clare Lloyd today, from the same photoshoot but with a completely different look and style. Of course we’re featuring Clare’s stunning handcrafted hairpieces and necklaces, but this time with a statement bouquet full of vibrant florals with a lush silk ribbon, and Old Hollywood inspired styling.

I adore the beautiful handmade antique bias cut lace dress by Sow’s Ear. For this part of the shoot Charlotte Tillyer styled Sian into a Hollywood starlet with soft, glowing make up and a modern braided take on a classic vintage inspired hairstyle to show off the low cut back of the dress.  Sian’s hair was styled with several different accessories from delicate hair vines worn across the forehead to delicate beaded headpieces pinned around the side of the head.

As the bluebells are almost out on the hillsides here in the Lakes, I thought it would be the perfect time to share this gorgeous day with you. Tristan and Kayleigh had a beautiful woodland wedding in springtime, surrounded by bluebells and incorporating them into their theme. The bride and groom are just naturally beautiful – theirs could be my perfect wedding, I think. I just love the flowers, wooden decor and raffia which bring their natural spring wedding look together.

“The whole event was homemade with help from family. Stand out out pices were the bar, cake stand and the arch the ceremony was under. We also created a coloring book from some old photos for the children along with some sweets and disposable cameras.”

The New Forest is a wondrous place with sprawling heathlands, magical ancient woodlands and picturesque English villages that make it a special setting. Getting married in such an idyllic location where there are endless opportunities for a gorgeous photograph of the bride and groom is a no-brainer. It’s no wonder the New Forest takes centre stage in this stunning elopement shoot by the fabulous Nisha Haq Photography.

The small towns and villages have a quintessentially English feel with quaint tea rooms and walkways with beautiful New Forest ponies grazing close by. Who wouldn’t want a wedding with ponies in the background of your bridal shots?

For each location in the New Forest, the bride wears a different wedding dress as each dress has its own character that compliments the scenery. All dresses are from the high-street (sourced from ASOS) with the groom’s suit from Moss Bros and it goes to show how easy it can be to get a stunning wedding outfit especially for a low-key style wedding.
