A lovely, romantic wedding from the heart of Warwickshire, with a highly recommended photographer and some great little tips for Midlands wedding suppliers! The details are timeless and feminine, the styling classic in white and pink. Our gorgeous couple are Ben and Kerry, who’ve sent in a wonderful write up of their day and a brilliant review for lovely Alex, Warwickshire wedding photographer at AJTImages.

Ben’s mum made all of our decorations which was so lovely! We had a sweetheart table rather than a top table so we could take some time just the two of us which was really nice as I don’t think we saw each other after that save for the first dance! And I ordered a beautiful charm to go on my wedding bouquet of my grandma and grandad who sadly gained their angel wings before our special day so that was important for me to have.

How did you choose your photographer?

I (Kerry) met Alex at a Wedding fayre with my mum and after looking through his work and chatting to him I knew I wanted to work with him. I showed Ben his website and he had already photographed our venue before which we really liked

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

Absolutely! Alex and Claire were great from start to finish. We were unfortunately a couple that had to move our wedding and Alex was so accommodating and understanding. We also had a photoshoot with Alex before the wedding to get to know him and that was a great opportunity for us to discuss what kind of photos we wanted. We went for the natural photos with some “posed” photos and they all look absolutely beautiful. Alex and Claire were so professional but fun on the day and they handled our crazy family and friends perfectly! Alex is not afraid to get down on the floor to get some perfect shots and has a good eye for detail. I would 100% recommend Alex.

What’s your fondest memory of your wedding?

Our wedding day went SO quick but we decided to have a sweetheart table for the dinner reception and this just gave us both some time to stop and reflect on our lucky we were to be celebrating our day with all our family and friends. We also had some singing waiters who were AMAZING and again, Alex captured some fab photos from this.

Videographer details if applicable – and any thoughts for other couples about having a wedding video?

100000% recommend it! Alex actually recommended a guy called Graham who owns Two Towers Media and our video is so perfect! Alex and Graham worked so well together so would definitely recommend the dream team!

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?

We got married at a venue called Warwick House in Southam. We went for this venue as we just got a really nice vibe from the staff and venue when we went. We both knew this was the place for us. We loved that it was an exclusive venue and our close family and friends could stay over for the night of the wedding. I couldn’t fault Warwick House and the staff were so friendly and professional and nothing was too much trouble. Again, Alex knew exactly where to get some perfect shots of our venue and worked so well with the venue staff

Did you love wearing your outfits? How was your shopping experience, was it fun to find your wedding gear?

I adored my wedding dress! I went to a local shop called Forget Me Not Bridal Boutique in Nuneaton and Julie who owns the store is the nicest lady! She knew exactly what styles would suit me and despite my appointment being mid covid she made it as special as possible with my mum and maid of honour attending despite there being social distancing and masks! She has some gorgeous dresses!! Ben’s shopping experience was slightly different.. I sent him with two of his groomsmen to try on suits and they ended up having too many beers and forgot to try any suits on!! Luckily we knew what style we wanted and ended up getting some black tuxedos from Next as they have so many different sizes for a great price!

Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness

We didn’t hire a florist as Ben’s mum is a florist which we were so grateful for! She is amazing at what she does so she created all of our beautiful flowers and also decorations. Linda made our flower arch which took weeks to make and she made this by hand with silk flowers and it was gorgeous!!

As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?

Cakes by Sophie Page, could not fault her work. Our wedding cake was delicious and we had so many compliments! It also looked beautiful and it was one thing we didn’t need to worry about as she just got on with it. Highly recommend her and if you check her out on Instagram you’ll see all her amazing creations!

Did you have any wedding readings? What were they?

Yes my wonderful brother did a wedding reading. I couldn’t tell you what it was called but it was so special to have my brother do a reading which is all captured on video so we can look back on it in years to come.

What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?

We chose Stand By Me by Ben E King. I can’t say we chose it for any special meaning because this was definitely one of the hardest tasks of the wedding planning! We just absolutely love the song and kept going back to that one.

When Warwickshire photographer AJTImages joined English Wedding last month, we were blown away by the creativity of his images. Fantasy fans and movie lovers will be captivated by these, just as we were! Alex invited us into his world to see just how these alternative wedding photos are created – and we’re sharing his inspiration with you today!

After a past in press photography, I photographed my first wedding back in 2008. This is when I realised my true love for photography was in weddings and I haven’t looked back. Here I am, 14 years later and I photograph 40 – 50 weddings a year and I absolutely love it.

Self taught over the years, with a passion for Photoshop and my creative flair, I began to create unique images of my children. They make great models. I’d have a vision in my mind and I’d create that using Photoshop.

It was from these images of my children that one of my couples who had booked me for their wedding photography had asked me to create a Star Wars wedding image for them. This of course pleased my inner geek and I could not wait to get creative and make their vision a reality. And this is where it all started and my creative wedding art has become increasingly popular ever since.

How my creative wedding photography works

Normally, my couples will reach out to me with things they love which fit a certain theme, such as Disney, Star Wars and Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland. Sometimes it’s a mash up of ideas that each of the couple love. The possibilities are endless.

I then create images with this as a base. This involves a lot of brainstorming and drafting before the wedding and the creation sketches and concepts all build a vision in my mind, which I then work with on the day to set up the lighting and capture these shots.

Several of my creative artworks have also been created from a spur of the moment inspiration, either on the day from a location or an interesting spot of light or from an image that would just work perfectly.

My Nightmare Before Christmas wedding artwork

The groom had mentioned in his speech how it was a favourite film of theirs, so from that I pulled them out to the car park, set up the shot and the magic was done in Photoshop.

I love being able to make these all a little differently and having the flexibility to make unique artworks for each couple.

My photographic style in three words is unique, cinematic and natural.

Unique, because I want my images to stand out, to be something bold and individual.

I have always preferred to follow my own style rather than follow the trends and it has allowed me to develop a personal style that is true to myself featuring a full range of tones with rich warm golden highlights like warm firelight flowing into deep midnight blue shadows like the ocean at night.

Cinematic because I draw a great deal of inspiration from film, especially Science Fiction and Fantasy. I love the escapism of these genres, the imagination and creativity that goes into them and they drive me to push myself.

I especially love setting the mood of an image with careful attention to lighting and colour to give it that extra wow factor.

Natural because no matter what the image or how it was created it is my goal for it to appear effortless, as if the moment simply happened and all I did was press the shutter button no matter whether that was the case or not.

I’m often asked what I love about weddings

For me it’s all about the people. I love the smiles, the laughter, the dancing and the fun. I love seeing and capturing all the little stories that make up a wedding day.

Moments like seeing the bride’s mother in the ceremony looking like she might overflow with pride and happiness and can’t help but cry as her daughter walks down the aisle or the grandad who spends the evening with a tie wrapped around his head while he rocks out on the dancefloor with the children.

I am privileged to capture those moments and more, to ensure every story of every wedding is told in full.
