The other weekend I bought sunflower seed packets… lots of them. I know it’s early, but I’m excited for summer! And I don’t think you can ever really have too many sunflowers, right? I’m fairly sure today’s beautiful bride Kayleigh and handsome husband Scott would agree. Their wedding is vibrant and summery, wonderfully creative and gorgeous in every possible way.

Sunflowers started as a bit of a personal joke between myself and Scott but we started to see beautiful bouquets mixed with white roses and felt these would set our summer wedding perfectly. We met Ellen from Enchanted Florist on the sly at a wedding fayre where she wasn’t actually working but someone introduced us and she was just brilliant! We showed her a few pictures and she designed the rest including the stair swags.

Joanna lives locally to us and I’ve often seen bits of her lovely work online but we both met her at a wedding fayre where Scott liked her and her photos too so we never really looked too much further!

I love this wedding – it’s beautiful, relaxed and so wonderfully summery! I can’t believe it was planned in less than 6 months! Tessa is so beautiful and wears her dress with the prettiest lace jacket for the ceremony, which she takes off for the reception to show off the lovely strapless style of the gown underneath.

The styling and special touches on the day make it even more special: I love the picnic baskets for the main meal – that’s genius for a marquee or picnic / festival inspired wedding! The chalkboard lettering is wonderful, the flowers are divine – and the pot plants adding extra splashes of green are a hint of one of 2018’s foremost wedding trends!

Today’s gorgeous bride and groom were married on the 17th of June in Chidham. The reception was held at Cut Mill, the groom’s grandparents house: it used to be a working mill hundreds of years ago and has been kept in the family ever since. It really is a beautiful location.

For those of you who love the style of vintage Hollywood, today’s wedding is more than perfect. Gorgeous bride Hettie has the most amazing glamorous look – her red vintage  updo is stunning! And the details throughout the whole day – from guests’ outfits through to the fabulous art deco inspired stationery – are just perfect.

We both love the vintage scene, but this covers a few different eras! On our invitations, we stated Hollywood Glamour as the dress code and our overall theme was eclectic vintage… we had styles from 1930 to 1950!

Pete made all of our wedding stationery!! He’s fantastic with designing things and he’s very creative… he found inspiration in the Art Deco designs on the 20’s and 30’s and created our very own Great Gatsby style invitations! This meant that we could have the exact format and style that we wanted… old movie tickets! They were perfect for our theme and the guests loved them. It was a labour of love though… these things take time!! Also, our save the date was styled as an old movie poster – again, Pete created these!

Greenery is where it’s at for 2017 weddings. Foliage and textures for a wonderfully organic look make my heart sing. So Phoebe and Wayne’s DIY wedding is perfect to share on the English Wedding Blog, with all its greenery and homemade touches. This gorgeous couple’s day is full of ideas so I am thrilled to be sharing it with you today!

We chose our venue because of its gorgeous setting in the heart of the south downs. We kept the styling very simple, keeping the focus on the lovely surroundings. We hung white lanterns but not much else. Everything that we could have made ourselves, we did. My husband even made our cake table from an old cable reel. I definitely enjoyed it, I hope he did!

We look back at our day and are so proud of what we created and couldn’t imagine feeling as much pride and satisfaction if we hadn’t done so much of it ourselves.

I love today’s wedding: the bright colours and gorgeous styling of Jodi and James’s vintage garden party, in the beautifully restored Farbridge barns, are just glorious. And the bride and groom are the loveliest, happiest couple ever – they look just fabulous too!

Images are by lovely Neil Walker, who is based in Sussex and loves Farbridge! “I shoot weddings at Farbridge quite regularly & it is definitely one of my favourite venues. Nickie & the team there are great & the light is wonderful in the courtyard & even in the barn where there are lots of windows, unusually for a barn. To cap it all, Simon the chef makes wonderful food, definitely the best food of any venue I know, & that’s saying something!”

Morning lovelies! I hope you’ve got a fun day planned – but before you head out do have a scroll through today’s gorgeous English wedding – it’s full of elegant style and classic ideas, with a wonderful reception at a sailing club (and of course some stunning beach shots!)

The church was in the beautiful Sussex village of Findon, we then went on to Worthing Sailing Club, which of course is right on the beach. I was able to take advantage of the beach huts and the beach itself to get some beautiful photos of the two of them. The Sailing club itself has big windows all down the beach side, so I had wonderful light to play with for all the photos in the afternoon.

Summer weddings are wonderful: the glorious light and wonderful warmth of those endless days will be back before we know it… and so this morning I would love for you to join me to reminisce over hazy days and summer celebrations.

Rozie and Al’s wedding is the most perfect example of an English summer wedding – I love the styling of their day, the beautiful flowers and stationery, Rozie’s stunning bouquet and dress… oh, and their countryside location is blissful.

“The wedding of Rozie and Al was such a beautiful, happy occasion and the attention to detail that they had put into their day was outstanding. From the pretty bunting that Rozie spent her evenings making in the run up to the wedding, to the flowers, arranged perfectly by Al’s mum, it was a dream to photograph. The couple, their friends and family were all so lovely and the whole day was full of love and happiness.

Kate & Russell’s wedding is a wonderfully colourful, homemade celebration with some fabulous creative details and lovely moments. Their table plan is divine: you’d never know it was made in a panic the day before the wedding, along with the other reception stationery – it’s so lovely!

Friends and family helped with all aspects of the wedding – Kate says “friends and contacts can be incredibly generous with their time and talents, you just have to ask!”

We had quite a lot of fun trying different cocktail recipes out for the alcoholic, non-fizzy reception drink option.  Making 1.5 litres each of fresh lime, lemon and orange juice the day before was a little less fun…”

… and in case you wonder about the Greek statues, Kate explains, “the entertainment was all arranged for me.  Two dancers dressed as a Greek God and Goddess greeted me to beckon me into church.  The aim was to help me relax and laugh, and it certainly worked!”

Chris and Emily styled their Sussex wedding beautifully. They chose a venue which fitted the relaxed wedding style they wanted to have, and the simple and impactful fairy light and lantern decor makes it fun, pretty and welcoming!

Emily is absolutely gorgeous. Despite being a tomboy at heart, she told me, “I really surprised myself by finally choosing a fit and flare dress, it really stood out to me as the delicate ivory lace had a modern feel and it was offset against a light gold satin which gave it a vintage feel. I took it to a seamstress to make some alterations so my dress is one of a kind and I felt like a million dollars on the day.”

Emily saved money by buying a sample wedding dress that was about to be discontinued. “It needed a few minor repairs due to being tried on in the shop but even with these it was half the price of having one custom made.

Shades of summer, blissful memories and a beautiful bride – today’s wedding is out of this world. Sally and Matt were married at Wadhurst Castle in West Sussex in September. They caught the last of our summer sunshine and have some of the loveliest images to treasure their day by.

I asked the gorgeous bride and groom to share the story of their day and they didn’t disappoint – you can read their English Wedding Blog interview at the end of today’s blog feature. Sally gives some great advice on everything from kinder eggs to harpists…

There’s a minimum of fuss to Natalie and Tom’s West Sussex wedding – they chose elegant, understated details and they chose well. Their table plan is simple and contemporary; the flowers are modern and summery; venue styling is subtle and chic. I love everything about their day.

Barn weddings come in all shapes and flavours these days, and Natalie and Tom went for pretty pastel colours with a bright and seasonal style. The menu was veggie (which is awesome!) and guests had plenty of traditional games to keep them occupied after the meal.

Natalie told me, “We loved having Jennifer share our wedding day. She blended in with our day perfectly and all the guests commented on how professional she was… Our wedding photographs were perfect and just what we wanted – she really captured the day.
