Gavin and Stephanie by Matt Parry

I’ve just sat and grinned through a slideshow of wedding images, twice – and had to share! The wedding I’ve just been enjoying is Gavin and Stephanie’s. They were married just a few weeks ago on a lovely sunny day, near High Wycombe – the reception was at The King’s Hotel. They chose one of my favourite wedding photographers: Matt Parry.

Stephanie wore a beautiful strapless wedding dress with a little bit of crystal decoration – and she’s absolutely gorgeous with her hair in loose curls with a crystal tiara. Both Stephanie and Gavin smile so brightly in every picture that, along with photographer Matt Parry‘s use of a lovely soundtrack by Amy MacDonald, I just think this is a really uplifting wedding in every way!

There’s another reason for my use of the word “uplifting” as well… apparently it was a surprise… watch the slideshow!

A gorgeous bride and groom photo

Love is...

The wave of beautiful vintage themed weddings just doesn’t seem to stop – and I’m really loving all the gorgeous vintage wedding photography around at the moment.

Allison and Jeremy had a gorgeous wedding day in Wales, complete with pink rose flower arrangements Allison had made herself, a beautiful and unusual wedding venue, and a wedding dress and lace shrug that are out of this world!

Allison and Jeremy chose Devon based photographers Lime Leaf Weddings to capture their day. I’m a big fan of Laura and Henley’s photography work, and this series of amazing wedding images is one of their best: the wonderful lightness in every image makes me wonder if they carried along their own little sunshine in a bag with the camera equipment. Enjoy…

Vintage styled photo of Maria and Tom - beautiful

Would you like a little extra sunshine in your life today? I’ve got some, all beautifully bundled up in this gorgeous wedding full of bright Caribbean colours. Maria’s family had travelled from Trinidad for the wedding, and even booked a steel band to play at the reception as a surprise.

Happily for Maria and Tom, their choice of gorgeous orange and yellow for the flowers and decorations at their wedding more than made up for the Yorkshire skies (which weren’t quite up to Trinidadian standards that day)!

Maria and Tom were married in August in Kirkburton, Yorkshire, and held their wedding reception at Wortley Hall in Barnsley. All of these gorgeous images are courtesy of Yorkshire wedding photographer Mark Tierney.

Flamingoes in London at a wedding!

Flamingos in London at a wedding!

Today’s English wedding is so full of amazing things I didn’t know where to start. Hence the title: yes, there are flamingos in London. Being a northerner, that’s not really surprising, but it’s definitely lovely and exotic and pretty glamorous… which leads nicely on to…

…Colin and Lee’s rooftop wedding in Kensington. Where there are flamingos. And the photographs of the wedding and reception sent to me by wedding photographer Kirsten Mavric are lavish and gorgeous and exciting. Sit back and enjoy them!

Bride Kat looks stunning

Wedding photographer Robert Burress says on his blog that bride Kat "turned into Angelina Jolie before his eyes". I can see exactly what he means!

I think you’ll love this wedding. It’s Kat & Rich’s day at Bury Court Barn in Hampshire (a venue I know very well, having painted it for a table plan last year!).

The photography is inspiring: I love the little glimpses the images give. I always think photographer Robert Burress (aka Shooting Hip) has a really special way of looking at things, and of sharing them. Anyway – have a look, see what you think!

English groom and best men at a French wedding by Matt Parry

English groom and best men at a French wedding by Matt Parry

Today I thought it would be nice to broaden our horizons over at English Wedding. Just a little hop over the channel, to see a fab wedding by Matt Parry who is a wedding photographer in London.

His little brother Chris was married in France in September and I couldn’t resist sharing the montage of photos in Matt’s slideshow of the wedding day. You can even spot Matt doing a stint on the guitar as beautiful bride Katie walks down the aisle. The music for this slideshow is by The Maccabees. Enjoy!

Matt always has me hooked with his wedding slideshows, not only for the photos but for the great musical accompaniment – it always shows Matt’s style and personality and I’d definitely book him for a London wedding if I was having one!

The beautiful bride

The beautiful bride

I’m struggling for words to describe Alex & Jess’s wedding, which was sent to me by favourite wedding photographer Lisa Dawn. Why? Well, every time I scan through the pictures all I can see is how beautiful Jess is.

Talk about an English rose: Jess could be the heroine from any English period drama, with her hair beautifully curled and pinned, exquisite make up and her beautiful classic wedding dress with just enough diamond sparkle to take your breath away.

How about I stop wittering and show you the photos of Alex and Jess’s wedding day?! Enjoy…

Quirky old clock face

I spotted Sarah and Ally’s dedication ceremony on the TP Photography website a week or two ago, and loved the striking images of their day. I also love to post something a little unusual from time to time.

This was a dedication ceremony rather than a wedding, but Sarah blew me away with her fantastic red wedding dress, and Ally looks fantastic in full Scottish attire: kilt, sporren, the lot. Enjoy!

A dedication ceremony can be held for many reasons: as a vow renewal, or to have your civil ceremony blessed by a vicar if you weren’t married in church the first time. The idea is to dedicate your marriage to God.
