Hey lovely! Thank you so much for coming back to English Wedding. I just know you’ll adore today’s feature, with beautiful bride Julia and her gorgeous new husband Joe celebrating their marriage at Shiplake College, Henley on Thames. They’re a fabulous, fun couple whose wedding is full of personality – from their first look (the photos are just wonderful!) to the floral styling around the venue. Images are by my lovely friend Ayshea Goldberg Photography, who gets such a fantastic review from the happy couple.

We came across Ayshea’s website while browsing online and really liked her style of photos.

Ayshea was a pleasure to work with! From the moment we met her, we knew we wanted her to be our photographer – she was professional but also fun and relaxed, and put us at ease immediately. She was great on the wedding day – she helped calm any nerves and was unobtrusive the whole time but captured the day perfectly.

I love a wedding which is different. Of course every single wedding day is unique, because it’s all about the people and making your day personal… but then there are some weddings which really stand out from the crowd! For Ginger and Jamie, the venue made their day extra spectacular. Imagine being married in a museum, surrounded by history and treasures – making memories of your very own, to last forever.

Ginger and Jamie are gorgeous: Ginger’s just the most beautiful bride, and Jamie her perfect match! Styling their day was a matter of keeping things simple, and timeless – as the backdrop of The Ashmolean Museum was all they needed to make this a truly unique and wonderful wedding!

All images are by Oxford wedding photographer MT Studio. Photographer Maciek told me, “I was truly humbled when I was asked to photograph Ginger and Jamie’s Wedding. The bride and groom had chosen to exchange rings surrounded only by their closest friends and family. Their pre-wedding lunch was held in the Old Bank Hotel, followed by a low key ceremony in the European Art Gallery of The Ashmolean Museum – one of the classiest wedding venues in Oxford.

Join me this morning as a virtual guest at one of England’s most breathtaking wedding venues. Blenheim Palace is an impressive world heritage site, and a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. It’s also the place where our stunningly beautiful bride & handsome groom decided to say their vows in front of their nearest and dearest.

Wearing an elegant Suzanne Neville bridal gown, Kate carried peonies, sweet peas & roses down the aisle to meet her handsome husband to be. The cherry blossom was out in full force providing the most breathtaking backdrop to an already beautiful day! Kate, the youngest of 3 sisters was supported by her siblings who were both maids of honour, and one of whom had traveled from Australia to be there for her sister.

Every element of this wedding is beautifully curated: the flowers are pure and simple, but fabulously blousy peony blooms. The cake is understated and elegant, with a touch of gold adding a luxe feel to the design. The venue is simply magnificent… and the photography divine.

Harriet & Ian got married in August in Oxford, and describe their day as joyful, beautiful, welcoming, summery, exuberant, momentous and full of happiness! It looks wonderful – that summer sunshine and the relaxed styling in such glorious venues are perfect for an Oxford wedding! This gorgeous pair look so happy and content on their best day ever – which I think comes down to their genius approach to planning. They’ve given us some great recommendations and supplier ideas in their interview at the end of their feature, and share this fabulous snippet of wedding wisdom…

Chill! But plan in advance and don’t leave everything to the last minute. Map out your time and allocate jobs to each month. Only worry about something in its allocated month. This means everything gets done, steadily and reliably. Don’t fall in to the trap of one person doing everything and the other barely being consulted. Hatty may be the one with the artistic vision but we did the whole thing as a team and we were a wed-min machine by the end! Most importantly, remember that everyone is there to have fun and celebrate your relationship so don’t get stressed by the little things. The important thing is your marriage, not the wedding.

Happy Sunday, beautiful! How’s your weekend going? I forgot to tell you – we spent last night at The Wordsworth in Grasmere, a gorgeous spot for a wedding – so waking up this morning was absolute bliss! I’ll tell you all about it later in the week 🙂 For today though, something VERY special. We’ve been chatting to the wedding & events team at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford recently – it’s a breathtaking and wonderfully unique wedding venue with a stunning balance of contemporary architecture and historic backdrops – half a million years of art and history, to be precise! Today we’re sharing a bridal photoshoot at the Ashmolean, so you can see the place for yourselves… isn’t it incredible?!

The Ashmolean is a rich treasure house. Grand, sweeping staircases and priceless paintings offer a wealth of unique opportunities for photoshoots. Traditional flower arrangements coupled with contemporary bridal wear – a combination of old and new – embodies the breadth of the Ashmolean’s spaces.

Gorgeous newlyweds Fiona and Ashley’s spring wedding from Stratton Court Barn is just fabulous – they used rich purple tones to create a luxe, sophisticated wedding theme and chose a venue with oodles of cosy character which needed just a few creative touches to bring it to life. With a canopy of fairy lights and pretty floral styling, this is a lovely wedding I’ve been excited to share with you! Images are by our lovely team member Carol Elizabeth Photography, who is based in Oxfordshire and gets a glowing review from the happy couple!

We searched for photographers in Oxfordshire and looked at lots of websites! We wanted a more natural style of photography and we didn’t want our photos to look too posed, so we narrowed down our search by picking photographers who fitted our desired style. We used price to narrow down our search further as we had a maximum budget in mind. We then had phone calls with our shortlisted photographers as it was important to us that they were easy to talk to and understood what we were looking for. Another thing that we took into account was whether the photographer had been to our venue or whether they would be happy to visit the venue beforehand, as we wanted them to be familiar with the layout and where would be good spots to take photos. Carol ticked all the boxes for us.

Today’s elegantly styled wedding comes from Caswell House in the Cotswolds. Beautiful bride Kelley has written the loveliest interview for us and shared her recommendations for Cotswolds wedding suppliers, which will be unmissable reading for any of you lovely brides and grooms-to-be in the region. I adore the unusual florals with such a unique colour palette, Kelley’s gorgeous dress and the romantic atmosphere of the day. Images are by Jessica Davies, who told me “I loved the way that Kelley embraced the wintry theme, with a sprinkling of darker, seasonal florals and warming candles, yet managed to also keep everything feeling light and romantic, with the beautiful Cotswold’s stone, pale grey bridesmaids dresses and inclusion of baby’s breath flowers. Family was a huge part of the wedding, and Kelley’s father spent weeks designing and making the personalised wooden ring box which you’ll see in the photographs. Overall, I think it was one of the most smiley, joyful weddings I’ve ever captured.” ~ Jessica Davies Photography

This will brighten up your Wednesday – I promise! I’m totally in love with today’s wedding from The Copse, and Daisy and Will are just gorgeous – in fact everything about their wedding is just perfect from Daisy’s dress (wow!!) to the florals and greenery. Images are by English Wedding Directory member and super talented Essex wedding photographer Craig Williams – whose website and instagram are both wonderfully addictive!

Daisy and Will’s venue is fabulous. The Copse allows couples to choose their own caterer and bring wine with no corkage – which we think is pretty special! I know it’s a favourite of lovely friend, English Wedding feature writer and wedding planner, Jenna Hewitt. “Jenna ran everything for us and that meant we had much more time to relax and enjoy the day. Having Craig as our photographer and Jenna as our on the day coordinator made all the difference in the world.”

Elise and Rajiv’s Caswell House wedding is perfect: elegant styling and classy touches make their day wonderfully pretty and perfect for the 15th century manor house. They make the most gorgeous couple, don’t you think? This is ever so beautiful and I know you’ll love it. Huge thanks to our lovely sponsor Carol Elizabeth Photography and to the stunning bride and groom for their words of wisdom and advice!

“We had a holiday theme with an asian twist. All our tables were named after South East Asian Islands and we also had Asian lounge music in the background. The reason for that was because we met in Malaysia and the start of our relationship was spent travelling in different places in South East Asia.

Autumn wedding styling isn’t all about the pine cones, you know. I get it: they’re cute little things, with a dash of childhood nostalgia attached… but I think after years upon years of pine cone wedding styling they’re about to be pushed from the top spot – by the humble gourd!

Vibrant autumn colours and tons of styling ideas for a Notley Barn wedding with Amanda Karen Photography (22)

So many wedding traditions and styling ideas start in the US and gradually make their way over here. With all the budding excitement of Hallowe’en they start their pumpkins early over there… and the mini versions (gourds is a catch-all term for anything pumpkinesque, in my simple mind!) are colourful, cute and charming as hell. I love how Kate and Ali used them to style their day.

Kate and Ali got married at Notley Tythe Barn in Oxfordshire with a family friend working as a set designer lending her creativity and a very talented Mother of the Bride making the wedding cake for the happy couple. The bride and bridesmaids look stunning with bouquets in pastel tones and dresses in shades of dusky pink; copper and bronze accent colours hint at the fabulous styling of the reception venue and capture the spirit of autumn days.

Josie and Simon’s wedding is just fabulous: the colour they created in every aspect of their day is just wonderful for a January wedding. Peacock feathers look stunning in a British flower bouquet; herbs as favours and place settings are perfect, and I adore Josie’s gorgeously vibrant wedding dress – you’ll love this!

Chance and Google led us to Carol. We knew that we would be getting married in an iconic venue, that needed someone who knew it to photograph it well. We searched for online portfolios of the Bodleian and found Carol’s. We liked the style of photography and we liked the range of couples in her photos – not all couples are 20-something instagram supermodels! Then we met her and she put us at ease, and we felt comfortable with her taking care of our special day.

Today’s gorgeous couple Su and Mark were married in the summer and their day is so wonderfully personal, quirky and unique – with fish, lego tattoos for all the guests, oodles of home made touches and home made mead (or perfume, depending who you ask!) I also adore the horror inspired wedding cake – such a talking point and really creatively done (truly!) – and the images are fabulous. When wedding blogs encourage you to have a wedding which reflects your personalities, this is exactly what we mean!

Genuinely relaxed and festival style wedding inspo with Amanda Karen Photography (15)

“We had bunting in the marquee, lots of fairy lights for when it got dark, a ‘best day ever’ banner, a big inflatable flamingo and crocodile. The table plan was a map of the world made up of spots with all the places we’d ever been marked on. Each table was assigned a country/place. At the table, there was a photo of a memory from that place and a short story about something funny that happened there.
