Timelessly Elegant Vintage Wedding Inspiration

Published by Claire Gould on

Today’s blog is a vintage styled photoshoot, featuring married couple Melanie & Roger, showcasing the work of a lovely bunch of wedding suppliers at Kearney Abbey and sent to us by NNastia Photography. It’s gorgeous, not least for showcasing a wedding or elopement without ££££ worth of dresses and florals. Sometimes it’s just as beautiful to keep things understated and elegant!

We took vintage wedding style to the next level in this incredible styled shoot with a mature couple at the historic Billiards Room at Kearsney Abbey. Happy couples can now celebrate their wedding day at this Grade II listed venue, offering an intimate and picturesque setting for intimate weddings for up to 40 people. The Billiards Room features floor-to-ceiling oak paneling, period features, and stunning views across the parkland and lake.

Our couple Melanie & Roger, married for five years, didn’t have wedding photos taken at their wedding and wanted to bring awareness to older couples getting married. For both of them, this was their second wedding and you can see their love for each other in all of the photos. A true testament to finding your soulmate at any age! Dressed in their own vintage-inspired wedding outfits, they looked absolutely timeless. Halo Events styled the stunning Billiards Room with vintage-inspired pieces, creating a beautifully cohesive look. Kirsten Hair and Makeup enhanced Melanie’s features with soft makeup and vintage hairstyles, perfectly complementing the theme and highlighting the beautiful headpiece which was Melanie’s own..

Fiona Huntley, a local small business owner, provided the exquisite dried flower bouquet and boutonniere, adding a unique touch to the overall aesthetic. Julie Walker Luxury Cakes crafted a cake that mirrored the earthy, rich tones of the space and decorations, adding to the elegance of the day.

Julie shares her passion, “Making a wedding cake is an absolute privilege. Being asked to be involved in a couple’s special day, bringing to life a cake that is meaningful and deeply personal to them whilst providing a really tasty treat for their guests, it’s just the best!

Temptation Towers provided an audio guest book, adding an extra layer of nostalgia to our vintage theme. Anita Collins, the founder, takes pride in offering high-quality bespoke hire packages, ensuring every event is unique and memorable.

The beautiful stationery, created by The Wrong End of Town, seamlessly tied into our vintage concept incorporating the gold, burgundy and green tones that were the basis of our styling. The Wrong End of Town is another local business that brings to life stationery that reflects the vibe of the wedding and couple effortlessly. Cullen’s Yard provided a vintage car, completing the look with a touch of classic charm.

Jen Woodley Celebrant crafted an intimate and heartfelt ceremony, reflecting the couple’s journey and love story. Jen’s passion for words and creating standout moments made the ceremony truly special. Photography and videography by NNastia Photography, a Dover-based wedding photographer, captured every stunning detail and emotion of the day. Specializing in reportage/documentary wedding photography, Nastia ensures that every moment, big and small, is documented in the most natural way.

The styling of the shoot featured warm earthy tones of wood, gold, burgundy and green, with just a little speck of cooler tones to balance it out. Vintage golden candlesticks, vintage china, real gramophone and cut crystal glassware really brought out the 1930-1940s era we emulated. The florals of the styling and cake featured a mix of deep red, burnt orange and pink, with neutral white roses underpinning the elegance of the room. The bouquet and boutonniere incorporated local wild flowers adding a touch of whimsy and bringing out the cooler undertones of the couple’s outfits.

This styled shoot demonstrates that a stylish, vintage, and intimate wedding can be created to reflect the taste of mature couples, who deserve to be celebrated and showcased in wedding inspiration content. By supporting local businesses and suppliers, we highlighted the beauty and charm of South East Kent, proving that love and elegance have no age limit.
